| Vectra 3D..Your Experience My yorkie mix rescue was treated with generic Frontline while at the shelter. Upon taking him for a wellness visit within the week I acquired him, my vet said that they do not prescribe Frontline Plus or Advantix II because you can now get them OTC. Also Frontline Plus is losing it's effectiveness. He recommended trying Vectra 3D since my state is rated #3 in lyme disease and other tick-bourne illnesses. Mosquitos are bad this year as well with West Nile Virus and possible heartworm transmission. I was lucky enough to get a free sample from my vet and 3 more vials from other local vets when Vectra was having their free sample campaign. So I got $64 worth of free Vectra. I just bathed him today and after he was dry, I applied some between his shoulders and a couple drops near his tail. I just used half the vial to see how it goes, for the whole vial is for a dog up to 20lbs. and JuneBug is 7lbs. Just curious as to how it has worked for those of you who use it. Also, any advice on how to get rid of the leftover greasyness on his coat after it dries? It has now been on him for a little over 3 hours. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I have friends that use it but it is on larger dogs. They love it. works great in NY where we have lots of deer ticks. It dries so do not clean it off. What did the vet say about splitting the dose?

| I honestly never thought of asking the vet, for i have heard of others on another forum talking about splitting the dose so I thought I would try it. Especially since he is new to me and I just aquired him with no past history. I will call and see what they say and report back.

| I have used Vectra for two years now. I only use half the tube on each girl. Neither one of mine have had any issues using the Vectra. Also I have not seen any fleas or ticks on them. I too got the free tube from them! It's nice to have a free one. My vet said the same thing about Frontline. And recommended the Vectra. I think you will be just fine using it!

| What it does is nice. Whether giving three pesticides monthly is indicated would depend on your situation. It should not be used if cats come into close contact with your pup.

| Rosie is 6 lb and Mikki is 4 lb. The tube says 2 to 20 lb so I split it. My vet was ok with this although he said the entire tube was fine too. But the half has worked well for us.

| I use Vecta on Molly and she weighs 3lbs 8oz. I use the entire vial as I didn't know I could split it. I have found 3 ticks on her even using this product. They weren't stuck to her yet they were still walking around so I don't know if they had bit her and were in the process of dying or not but YUCK. I also found a tick from her on my lap and sofa double YUCK. I noticed her scratching last night but haven't found any fleas nor did the vet. Not sure if I will purchase more of this product or ask the vet for something different. There aren't many choices for her size. This is just my experience with Vectra.

| This is our 2nd yr with it. Our vet said Frontline was no longer effective in this area. I don't like the way it makes their coats look greasy for so long after applying it.

| After putting it on. I pull my girls hair up in a scrunchie in that area. This helps keep the product in the right place lol. Even though they look ridiculous with a scrunchie on their backs.

| I keep my boy clipped close to the skin. Easier to keep the coat but also easier in the summer to see pests and keeps him cooler. Never got a call back from the vet but about using half a vial but oh well. So be it. I havent found any vectors on JB at all and we are into the 2nd week of application. I also do my part by checking him over everytime he comes in the house. No product is 100% so as a responsible owner, I have to do my part.
