YorkieTalk Newbie! | yorkie weight My yorkie, Puddin, is 9months old and weighs 11 pounds. Her diet has been 1/2 cup of Blue per day. There are some days that she eats very little but others she may have 3/4 cup of food. I have read that most yorkies are 7 pounds. Are there many puppies that weigh more? If not, any suggestions for me? |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The standard calls for under 7 pounds but there are plenty of yorkies which exceed that weight. More to love.

| When I adopted mine 4 months ago he weighed 7 lbs (he's 3 yoa). Now he weighs 8lbs 2 oz. My vet said he's to gain no more weight. I also feed him about 1/2 cup of Blue Buffalo Bison or Salmon per day which is about all he'll ever eat & I usually have to "remind" him to eat---drives me crazy. Somebody must be giving him too many treats??? They're always something nutritious though--nothing but good stuff for my baby! Last edited by dalady25; 07-18-2013 at 11:24 AM. Reason: Change |

| Yorkies used to be bigger so there are throw backs in the genes which can cause bigger yorkies. Mine is 16 pounds.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog My Spud loves to eat. I have to measure out 3/4 cup blue buffalo senior food for him. He is 9lbs and looks like a little blimp. Vet says he is ok, just not to gain any more weight. |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Yorkie weight Thanks for your replies. Puddin has to be reminded to eat too. This is my first yorkie and I am totally in love with this little girl. Her expressions are so cute, loves to play, stays right beside me all day. She also loves her kennel (we call it her cave). She often goes to bed early and we have found her napping in the afternoon. This is my first communication in the forum. I have a lot to learn. |

| Ok this is hard to say ... I got my oldest Yorkie when she was a puppy, 12 years ago and I didn't know a lot about Yorkies. Apparently my vet didn't either, because she kept telling me how bad I was because Mrs. Beasley was so big. "Yorkies are only be about 7 pounds." Needless to say Mrs. Beasley and I suffered for years until I gave up on "keeping her the correct weight." Now Mrs. Beasley is a proud member of the teapot club and Happy, Happy, Happy. So if your baby is bigger, just keep her happy, healthy, and enjoy every moment. Yorkies are special
