| Question to the ones who have had a puppy flown to you with a person So I read in one of the post that someone who bought their puppy had their puppy shipped not in cargo but with either a attendant or someone else. How does that work? I believe it was a breeder from the referral list, but don't quote me on that. Also payment wise, is it via PayPal? Please leave the info of the breeder that you know that has quality puppies and ships plus your experiences. You can PM me if you like. This might widen my selection of finding a breeder. I do know that most don't like to ship though. |

| I have a couple of different methods I use to get owners and their babies together...Since Southwest Airlines has started allowing pets to fly in the cabin with owners, I like to have my owners get a round trip ticket on Southwest, to Houston Hobby, they buy a one way ticket for the pup to return in cabin with them....Southwest has such reasonable rates, if you schedule far enough ahead of time, the tickets are very reasonable....much less expensive and a lot safer than shipping a baby "cargo". They are allowed one free carryon bag, which is the carrier they are bringing to put the pup in....I meet them at the airport, we review everything once again (information we have previously gone over at length over the phone....)all questions answered, puppy examined by new owner, we visit during the layover time, which is anywhere from an hour to two hours, and they return with the baby in the cabin. This price for the plane ticket and the pups ticket is all paid by the new owner, when they buy the tickets to and from Houston. The other option is to pay a "shipping" expense and I have someone that will accompany your baby to you....this is a shipping fee of $380.00, which covers the fee she charges me to hand deliver the baby, her ticket/pups ticket, and the shipping crate. I buy a standard carrier.....I dont know what the airlines use to ship the pups in....looks like cardboard, but I dont know if that is accurate....THAT $380.00 is added to the price of the puppy, which you include with the final payment for the baby. You meet at the airport, you examine the baby and sign a release that you received the baby and you approve of the way the baby looked when you received the baby...clean, healthy looking, clear eyes, dry nose, etc....and any comments you have....you sign the paper, add your comments, put it in an envelope and seal the envelope...that provides you the opportunity to disclose anything, including anything about the transporter you may have to say, without feeling intimidated. That is how I personally handle shipping. Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 06-30-2013 at 10:04 AM. |

| I am not personally set up for PayPal. Breedsrs that can do PayPal and some have credit cards too...but I would imagine the puppy has to be paid for before it is released. Now if they are buying the ticket from Southwest, they pay for that however they do that....but if they are having the baby "hand delivered", I will take a personal check but it has to be received at least 10 working days before the baby is to be shipped...the check has to clear the bank before the puppy leaves Rosehill. I have had two events where people used a stolen Cashiers check and another used a forged money order.....one I caught, but the first one got me for a very expensive little puppy. I also will let the new owner transfer the amount due, directly into my kennel account... Western Union wire transfers. I have only used these once or maybe twice....90% of the time, the owners will actually just bring the cash when they show up to pick their baby up....the rest are done with CLEARED personal checks, submitted 10 working days before puppy is to ship. If the check bounces, that bank charge to me, which is $30.00, is then added to the amount due. I have never had anyone write me a bad check. Now that my business is establishjed and I usually have all my babies sold at least 6-8 months before they are born, I have already established a really good relationship with my owners and there is a lot of trust established between us. Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I had Galen bought to me by courier. I had a wonderful reputable breeder. She talked me though the whole thing. I even spoke to the courier. He was bought on the plane with her and she made sure he had food and water on the flight. He came to me as a happy, healthy puppy.

| When I got Nilla, she came via a personal courier because they would not ship via cargo (which is good because I wouldn't have wanted her to be in cargo). I believe they knew someone who was willing to do it. It was about $300 extra for the service, but Nilla was worth every penny! <3 They just added the additional $300 to the puppy price, and I paid the entirety via Paypal.

| I flew from Baltimore to Michigan (on Southwest) and picked Mia up myself. My breeder, Lori Leskiw, was kind enough to pick me up at the airport and take me back to her home for my lay over. It was less expensive than a courier, and I think we both felt better meeting face to face. I got to see where Mia grew up, and meet some of the other dogs. I also got to check Mia over before handing over money and taking her home. Lori got an opportunity to watch me interact with Mia. I think it helped her feel better about turning over her baby to me. We had talked many times on the phone, and we both felt good about each other, but meeting face to face relieved some of the worry. I would fly again to pick up a new fur baby without hesitation. And best of all, in addition to bringing home my little heart girl, my breeder has grown to become one of my dearest friends. What an unexpected blessing that has been.

| PayPal charges a fee. Why would someone who has an established business, who has no issues taking checks (and insuring they clear) want to do PayPal and be charged 3%? They either have to absorb that cost or pass it onto the buyer....
