| Easy set-up pools for dogs Has anyone ever gotten a pool similar to this?: and used it for dogs? I would think it would work fine for a little basic swimming. I've been wanting to buy one because even though my dad has a nice big inground pool, there's really not much for us to do at our regular house on really hot days. Jax hates the heat so he only fetches for short periods, and doesn't care for long walks in humid weather. I typically only spend 2-3 nights at my dads house tops, so he does get a good few days of constant swimming in his big pool, but it'd be nice being able to get in the water every day, which he loves, and at least do a few little laps would be nice. I'm trying to think of some kind of ramp type thing I could have though so he could jump in himself, without me lifting him up every time? Any ideas on a ramp that could work so he could walk from the ground and then jump into the pool? Wondering how well these hold up in general. Saw this one on amazon for $77... seems like a bargain! Amazon.com: Intex Easy Set 12-Foot by 30-Inch...

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Im wouldn't think that a blow up top would be the best thing for a dog. He could get in with the ramp ok but when he needed out he would more than likely scrape the sides with his nail. Not good, My sister had to replace her pool liner from her dogs ripping it trying to find a way out or the pool. Different type of pool sure but same concept. Rubber ! Ramp: wooden ramp with a flat base at the top covered in outdoor carpeting would work. If you can find someone to build it. Or maybe a child slide turned the opposite direction with the stairs up against the pool.

The same brand offers this metal one, but it's pricier, at $155. Wasn't really looking to spend that much. Amazon.com: Intex 12-Foot by 30-Inch Family Size...

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | That may work but with the other one it may be easier for him to get out of on his own because the edge is wider. You could put a bath matt or something like that over the edge and train him to exit at that spot every time. What ever it is it would have to be something heavy or that does not float.

| Brit, I had this exact pool for cooper 2 years ago. I think it was 8' round and cooper was able to get in it from the ground. MOV00954 - YouTube It's a great little pool for the dogs and stays fairly clean with the filter. He definitely won't be able to get out by himself although max hates it so much he was able to.

My biggest concern is that all of your dogs would know how to get out of the pool. My in ground pool has a bad leak, and we need to have it repaired, so we aren't opening it. My little ones at the Rainbow Bridge swam every day, but I spent lots of time training them to make sure they could get out no matter where they were in the pool. I know you are trying to work this out and are very aware of this, Brit. I'm saying this for other people who may be reading your thread.

I have this pool....I have the 12' diameter one, and we LOVE it!!! We really enjoy it after yard work and relaxing after a workout in the yard! We will put our babies in, one at a time, with my son in the pool and me outside...I dont let the pup crawl up on the rubber ring....I would be afraid they would puncture it..... But the pool is great for the money spent, mine have lasted 3-4 years, and would probably last longer if we took much better care storing from season to season....I grew up with a "real" in ground pool....50 feet long and 18 feet wide and 12 feet deep on one end...it was a pain in the butt caring for that dad gum thing....vacumning and back flushing, and all the other stuff you have to do....you do check your chlorine level with this pool and add chloring as needed, but this is a great pool!! Get it, you wont regret it! Now, I do have sand boxes that I bought at toys r us...they are the shape of a turtle and a frog and are made of hard formed plastic...I put water in them instead of sand and the dogs love those pools to swim in by themselves....they only have about 6-10 inches of water in them, so they have no fear....and then for the little babies, my 3 - 4 pounders, they have their own little pool with just about 4 inches water in the bottom, which they can manage without fear. | |

| This looks like a great pool. We've been talking about getting a small pool to float in this summer. Did you end up getting it Brit?

| so I did get this last week, haven't had the chance to put it together. We tried but our yard is not even enough, so the water was all going to one side.... lol... we're not very good at putting things together over here (stepdad, mom OR me lol). Oh we also weren't thinking about our well/septic tank and not sure how much water we can take out at once. So my little sister has been using it but it's basically on the ground with only a few inches of water in it. I am going to go by Home Depot tomorrow and buy some kind of spongy type thing or thick tarp-like thing to have on the bottom and use our patio. It's the flattest surface we have. So once I get it properly set up I'll let you know how it goes. I think I've decided I'm going to rig something up with a dog ramp so he can at least jump in by himself. We have a dog ramp from our old Golden Retriever in our garage.

Then I had an inground fiberglass pool installed. Loved, loved, loved it. It's the only kind of inground I'd ever choose to have again. Then kids went away to college, so I sold up the big house and bought a lil house for just me. But I missed my pool...bad. So I bought another blowup ring & fill type. Didn't love it & not really swimmable. Then the following summer I had friends visiting from England, so I bought an Intex ultra-frame pool. Great pool, great quality, but it's small & 54" deep. I didn't like the depth/side wall height as it was a pain to climb over (& I'm terrified of heights and it scared the heck out of me!). So this year I didn't set it up. Then the heatwave his this week...boy did I regret it. So TODAY I bought a 12ft x 30inch deep metal frame pool, and just set it up this afternoon. I love it! It's not the quality of the Ultra-frame (which cost $1300), but it's short (so I can step over it..no ladder ) and it has the same surface area for floating as the ultra-frame one I had....but it was only $130!!! So if I only get this year out of it, I'm great! Here's what I got. I'll take my own pic of mine later, as it's still filling with water right now.

How's Jackson liking his pool? Did you make a ramp so he can get in & out of it? I had to chase ZoE down to get her in the big pool. The first time, I just called her to me & then picked her up...now she knows what I'm going to do with her, she won't come when I call her when we're outside anymore...darn these quick learners!
