| A lil' rant and a question!! So.. I was at Pet Smart picking some Blue Buffalo treats for Po. I discussed at length with the lady there about the treat and got Blue Bits - Blue Buffalo Blue Bits Natural Soft-Moist Dog Training Treats - Sale - Dog - PetSmart and Exuberance - Blue Buffalo Exuberance! Natural Jerky Dog Treats - Treats & Rawhide - Dog - PetSmart for Po. I saw a lady with a small dog which looked like a maltese and poodle cross. She was listening to my discussion with the lady of Blue Buffalo company. When I finished, I saw a pack of Greenies and told politely that they are bad for small dogs and they had lots of recalls. So, I got stiff answer "This is the only thing which she likes". I apologized and left. I still dont know when people would understand that some treats might harm dogs Just makes me sad... I have a question for you guys, I am sure some of you might have come across this situation. Last evening, I saw that there was an army of black ants and Po was trying to save me from them by "killing and eating them" I was just scared that he might get into trouble. I shifted all this things to other side of the room to keep him away from ants. I know I can get something from stores to get rid of ants but I fear that Po might lick it and get sick. Any ideas how to battle ants!!??

YT 2000 Club Member | I use Terro and it works like a charm. The only thing, is you have to hide it from the pets! I put mine on the counter behind something or under/behind something that is not accessible to our precious pets. I leave it out all summer and never have a problem with ants. Even Tatiana who is small is not able to get the one under a cabinet but the ants sure did find it!

| Terro also comes in gel form that is in small plastic disks. The ants walk in and get the bait and then leave and take it back to their colony. You can buy it at Home Depot.

| My neighbor fed her dog chicken jerky treats. I told her they were being recalled. She told me it's the only thing he'll eat! If they didn't take them off the shelves, she'd still be feeding them! Ant Problem? Terro = Ant Control Solutions Diatomaceous Earth works well also and is non toxic to pets and people. Takes 3-4 days for it to work.

| We use the Terro outside, but I tried an old home remedy for inside, and it actually worked. Corn meal! You have to watch the ants and find their 'highway' from your house back to the colony. Place a small amount of corn meal near the main traffic area. The ants will carry the grains back to feed their queen. Ants can't digest the corn, and like rice in birds, it will swell and kill them. It takes a couple of days, but the ants will disappear. You can use it outside if it's dry or you can put it somewhere it won't get rained on.

| Inside, I just use those ant baits and put them where I know M/Z can't reach. It's been working well. The few ants I do see, I just kill on spot. Dealing with outside haven't been as successful. I've tried chemicals ("pet friendly"), and pouring hot water. It worked on all the other areas except for the part I REALLY need it to work. Which just happens to be the place where M/Z potties. The ants would be gone for a while but always come back. I'll try the corn meal and terro. Hopefully, I'll get better results. |

| Do the ants bite or sting? Are they like Fire Ants which I've only read about or seen on tv? Here in the UK they're more or less harmless (tho' Wood Ants will fire formic acid at you if you disturb their nest or pick them up....in which case they're only defending themselves ). If they are harmless wouldn't it be better to just let them be |
