YT 2000 Club Member | Threat! I take my three girls outside every two hours or so for a potty break. We live on a one acre piece of land in town that is fully fenced. The girls are only allowed in the back fenced in area. We have a doggy dog in the den and we used to allow them to run in and out through out the day......not any more. A few months ago, someone tried to steal my precious babies by cutting the chain link fence and coaxing them out. I had just came inside when I heard them barking hysterically, I looked out and Maggie was outside the fence and Jasmine was eating something. I was horrified! I ran outside, got my girls and found the fence had been cut in two different places. I called the police and made a report. The next day Jasmine was sick with bloody diarrhea. At the time I was so focused on someone trying to steal my girls that, sad to say, I just thought Jasmine had one of her sensitive tummy issues and I treated her and within a few days she was back to her happy little self. Before we put in a smaller fenced area just for the girls, inside our huge fenced yard, all three of the girls wore shocker collars. Yes, all three of them had gotten shocked one time in training and then they never went near the under ground system again. It emitted a high pitched sound that they would hear when they got within five foot of the under ground wire. My husband had put that underground wire at our fence completely around our property. Anyway, we wanted to get away from the shock collars so that is why my DH fenced in a smaller area for the girls. My oldest baby, Prissy sweetest 11 year poodle you could ever ask for, used the shocker collar for years without incident. So did our other two, 1 old Maggie Mae and 5 yr. old Jasmine. Also on top of the chain link fence is three strands of barbed wire to ensure that no dogs will jump our fence and get in our yard. No dogs have ever jumped our fence. Needless to say after the attempted dog napping of my babies, we now go out every time with them. We usually go out every two hours or so for 5 to 10 minutes. Well, last night my husband was setting outside with the girls around 9 p.m. For their last potty break and the neighbor starts screaming, telling my husband, "shut those dogs up or I will get some rat poison and feed it to them". DH said he kept repeating this and he said he "would kill our dogs". I am just so upset! I now believe when Jasmine got sick after the fence was cut, I think he fed her something that made her sick. I am so afraid he is going to hurt my girls or kill them. I don't know what to do. They only go out for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. DH is going to record him next if this happens again. We also purchased a 9 camera security system that he is installing. Summary: (this is what has been done) 1. fully chain linked fenced yard 2.Three strands of barbed wire on top of chain link fence 3.privacy fence with chain link on two sides of property 4. installing 9 professional grade infrared security camera system outside 5.going out with my girls (staying with them) every 2-3 hrs, 5 to 10 min increments 6. Electric driveway gate with pad entry 7. Padlock back gates 8. Inside security system on all doors and windows 9. Window breakage security system I am afraid for my babies, your suggestions/advice/experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

| WoW! You've done everything I can think of to do. Have you tried talking to the neighbor? He sounds crazy, but maybe if your DH went over and tried a man to man talk, the guy will settle down a bit. Recording the neighbor's rants is a very good idea. I'm sorry your going through all this. It's horrible having neighbors that just don't want to get along with you. I hope everyone stays safe. I'll pray for a peaceful outcome for you.

| WOW! I don't know what to tell you. When Cali was in service dog training they taught her to 1) not take food from anyone but me unless they gave a specific verbal command, 2) she will only take food from the left hand. I know that might sound kind of far out, but it might be something to teach your dogs. I was told T the time of the training it was specifically aimed at dogs not getting poisoned or eating something bad for them. We had one attempt to steal Cali T the post office when someone tried to break out the window with a tire iron, fortunately there was a detective in the post office who saw it and came to,her rescue, but I can tell you it took me forever to get over the thought of it. I share your fears!

YT 2000 Club Member | Yes, it is a very serious threat and I am very worried. We live in a small town with a capital S. If he continues with the threats, etc. it will be recorded. I just don't want something to happen to our girls first for something to be done. My nerves are just shot over this.

| I can see you are obviously terrified. Neighbor arguments are scary because they live right near you, after awhile it simmers so long it either evaporates or boils...your case is boiling. If moving isn't an option, try a decent conversation. At this point I would definitely call the police and ask for assistance in resolving this issue so that the threads don't escalate. If your pups were poisoned there would probably be much more...I had a dog that died from rat poison exposure...I assure you its something that can only be treated by a vet. I hope it gets better but I would definitely try to find solutions to a happy resolve instead of letting it fester. I'm very sorry for this nonsense Hugs to you.

| Wow I am horrified, please be on the alert and go out with your furbabies. I am pasting somthing from FB that comes from Yorkieporum. I am stunned at such violence towards innocent pets! Yorkieporium Tigi (Arelli Touch & Go) 25th October 2009 - 22nd June 2013 Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts....As you know Roxy didnt make it .... all 5 dogs have now gone to heaven...Please be warned they took out the big dogs first and then threw the poison into the kitchen through a window. Everyone was at home!! Such a tragedy to happen to one of the most caring loving "Yorkie" moms I have ever met. Two of my babies went to the best most loving home imaginable. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Yes, we will continue to go outside with our girls. Praying you are right and he won't do anything with me out there, however it is still very unnerving for someone to scream threats like this. I am praying his bark is worse than his bite.

| Is it possible that the jerk could throw a poison over the fence? Something like a liquid that you wouldn't readily see? I know they always have their noses low to the ground, sniffing everything they can. Maybe keep them right next to the house when supervised outside? Earlier this year, Liberty became ill after a walk. We think he sniffed some weed control stuff as the gardeners had been by earlier that day. He was very sick!!! |
