| Narniafan's Yorkie facts Narniafan's Yorkie facts: One of my favorite things to do is too discover and write down new facts about different topics. I like learning about new things. For this topic, I thought that I would talk about Yorkshire terriers. Some of you are probably familiar with these facts already, but I wanted to share some fun Yorkie tidbits with everyone. Here they are: (Enjoy! ) > Yorkies were originally developed in the 19th century in Yorkshire, England (Hence the breed's name) >Yorkies were first originally bred to hunt rats on ships and clothing mills >Common coat colors in Yorkshire terriers are gray, black, tan, and gold >The Yorkshire terrier was first introduced in North America in 1872. The first Yorkshire terrier was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1885. >Some movies that yorkies have appeared in have included Funny Face, A fish called Wanda, Meet the Fockers, Daltry Colhoun, and Urban Legend. >Yorkshire Terriers were first known as Broken-Haired Scotch Terriers. In 1870, their name changed to Yorkshire Terriers. >Smoky was a popular yorkie in the war during the 1940's >In 1984, the first piebald/multicolored yorkie puppy was part of a litter in Germany. Today, multicolored Yorkies are rare and hard to find. >The Yorkshire Terrier became a popular pet during the Victorian Era >Yorkies, just like hobbits (Lol, I just had to add that part ) may be small but they have courageous and loyal personalities. They care deeply about their owners and will even act as guard dogs sometimes. >Yorkies were ranked as the tenth most popular dog breed in 2003 >Two coat length types for Yorkies are long, usually for showing, and then the short teddy bear cut. The teddy head cut is easier to groom than the show cut. Hope everyone enjoyed my facts |
