| What would you do? This morning about 10:15, Ian started barking, a lot. I thought it was FedEx, or UPS, but when I looked out of my window, I saw that it was my neighbor's yorkie! I looked for a person, but he was alone. He was at the end of my driveway, and when I got downstairs, I couldn't find him. I walked towards the end of our street, but didn't see him. When I got back to the front of our home, I saw him sitting at the top of his staries. I've only met him once, so I really don't know him, nor the owners. When I walked towards him, he ran into his house. The front door was half open. I rang the door bell, but no one answered. Since he was inside, I tried to close the door, but it would not close completely. I said hello several times, but no one answered. Since I was home today, I kept looking out of the window, with Ian, to make sure he was not outside. About 2p, he was! This time, I toke Ian with me, thinking that he may come to us, but he didn't. He ran back in his home. I tried to pull the front door shut, but it wouldn't close all of the way. I've been checking all dayfor signs of the owners, but , no luck so far. It's 7:52p, and I don't see any sign that anyone is home. I don't know if he/they are ok or not. I don't know if I should have the police do a wellness check, or not. I have never met the adults...only their child when she was outside with the dog. '

| That's strange. A front door that doesn't close all the way? I would call the police. How old is their child? Child at home alone also?

| The child is about 10, but I'm guessing. No one has been home today. When I pulled the front door to close, it wouldn't "click"!

| I would be concerned as well. Does your Police Station have a non emergency number that you can call and tell them the situation and see what they think.

| If my door was stuck open, I wasn't home, & my Yorkie was going in & out all day, I'd sure hope you would call the police! Good luck.

| I would definitely call the police and tell them that the door is open and it looks like someone might have broken in. Please call. Someone could be lying on the floor hurt or even worse. |

| All very valid points above. And of course the police must have a non emergency line. Usually the one for noise complaints and such. Must be a reason why the door doesn't click. I wonder why the child didn't answer you then you called at for someone?

| This is very concerning, and upsetting for me;however, my husband thinks that I should leave it alone. There is a non emergency number for the police here. I guess I could wait until in the morning to see if there is any change. We live in a small sub-division, and I guess my hubby doesn't want any problems. Hopefully, there will be a car in there driveway. Thanks for the advice.

| We don't always agree with our spouses, and if I were you, I would feel strongly enough about this that I would call. Lisa is right, you don't have to leave your name. They will ask you, but you do NOT have to give it.

| I would definitely call. Someone could be hurt... I know if my dogs were wandering outside the front door, I would want to know!

Plus how mad would they be if they come home in the morning and they were robbed and they didn't have good neighbors who called the police

| Please keep an eye on this little guy. When my kids were in early high school, one of them (not sure which) ran out of the front door and pulled the door behind them as they flew out the door (how kids do...) but the door didn't catch. I was gone at work, and my Chelsea went out the door & was running around from neighbour to neighbour's yards, ACROSS THE STREET Thankfully, one of my neighbours grabbed her & put her in the house & closed the door. I hate to think what could have happened to her if she had been left to run around longer.
