| Does your yorkie sleep in your bed? If he/she does, aren't you terrified about smushing them? Also, what age do you let them up there? I get my baby in Feb., and this is one of the many decisions I have to make!! I am such a mush, I would let him into the bed with me, but I am so scared I would roll over, or he would fall off. Any tips?

| Matthias goes to bed with me, yes. I go to bed and read my book until I fall asleep. Most of the time, he falls asleep with me. I'm used to having animals in my bed though - two cats and a Brittany! Nah, I'm not gonna roll over on him. However, when my husband comes to bed (after I do and long after I'm asleep) he puts Matthias in his kennel. Matthias is housebroken but since he is a puppy we don't want him roaming the house at night and possibly chewing something not good for him. He hit his chew everything stage. His kennel is on the floor in my bedroom on my side of the bed. We drape a dark blanket over top so that he gets the idea it is nighttime. He sleeps straight through the night. When he's older, we'll keep the kennel so he has his own space to retreat to when he wants, but he'll likely end up sleeping with us and the rest of the animals. Unfortunately our Brittany being 13 with arthritis is having a hard time jumping up on the bed so mostly it's just my husband, me, and the two cats - one of whom is 18 pounds!!!

| In the beginning Kiki slept with me and my husband and I would wake up and he would be deep under the covers and it would freak me out. Even though he loves being deep under the covers, I decided that it was best that he slept in his crate next to me. He has a medium sized crate with slots around the sides, so he can peek out and see us. He loves it in there now. I tell him night night time and he understands that means it is time to go to bed and he goes right in there and curls up and goes to sleep.

YT 5000 Club Member | Well when Gidget first came home she whined to get on the bed! And I couldn't let her sleep alone anyways! But I have never had a problem with her falling off the bed! Anytime we move, she moves to get comfortable again!

| No way! I know there are lots of yorkies happily sleeping in human beds, but not my baby. I stopped sleeping with yorkies after my other two went through a terrible bout of ...YUCK...diarrhea!! I am sure I needn't say anymore than that, lol. Also, Wosie was recently playing on my bed, fell off and broke her leg. I can't imagine I will ever let my girl sleep in my bed at night. But if you do, good luck!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Mine did from day one - I was very good about every 2 hours getting up with them as babies...Chanel was a really great little puppy and maybe had one accident in bed but I built her a ramp and she actually used it - then Cheri was a screamer in the playpen so she was in bed with me on the first night home too - I'm a HUGE mush too but a very light sleeper - especially when I had tiny little angels sleeping up against me |

| I actually sing to Matthias before I put him down for bed on those rare occassions that I'm awake enough to do it. He just looks up at my face and licks me throughout the whole song ('hush little baby'). I dont know if he's licking me to make me stop or because he likes it or even if he cares at all. But I've always sung to all my babies at bedtime, and he is no different. I'm hoping he can start sleeping with me in bed all night long soon. I just love it. Hubby is a bit peeved with all the animals in bed already - frankly, he's not a small man and we only have a queen sized bed and because of my back, I sleep with five pillows supporting my body in different positions. So he doesn't have much room right there. Add in two cats and sometimes a Brittany? The man sleeps on the edge of the bed. When it comes time that Matthias can sleep with us, I think I might as well give the queen size bed to my daughter or my sister and just buy a kingsized bed for us. Although, hubby says I'll still find a way to squeeze him out of bed.

| Pixie doesn't sleep with us yet. Once she's more reliable with her potty pads, she probably will.... I tend to sleep on my back and when we're relaxing on the couch, she'll lay down on my chest right beneath my chin. I don't think there will be much of a threat of smooshing her. I think if I did somehow roll over her, she would struggle I like the bed between the pillows idea! I'm not good at making/sewing things though. I'll have to see if pet store has a bitty bed for that..... |

| My first Yorkie, Katie, slept in the bed with hubby and I from the day we got her at 12 weeks of age. She had to sleep right in the middle and if you got too close, she'd take her front paws and "push" you over When we got Gabby, we let her in the bed at first but she was all over it and hubby did roll over on her but didn't hurt her. To prevent injury to her, we stopped letting her sleep in the bed with us. And now that we have Gage, we never started putting him in the bed with us. Do I miss a furbaby in my bed? Yes, at times I do. So, when hubby is at work (he's a firefighter and works 24 hours/off 48), I do let them sleep in the bed with me. They won't tell him because they know if they do, I won't let them back in the bed |
