| Making yorkie clothes HAs anyone made their own clothes? I love to sew, make clothes for my kids, but I haven't found any patterns for yorkie clothes. I'm not talented enough to make my own patterns but I can follow directions easily( that's not what my husband would say lol). If anyone has any help please let me know. THanks!!!!

| I made Pita a cute dress, I got a newborn baby pink t-shirt, cut it to the right length and I poked holes in the bottom and threaded some ribbons through it that I actually got off of a hairtye and it looks like a ballerina dress. |

| Simplicity has a pattern that has coats, pjammas etc. all in one pattern. Myself, I just made my own pattern. It is really easy, just wrap the cloth around them, cuts holes for the legs, then velcro on the underside. Then, lace around the neck and arms.Next, I gather for the skirt part--- not all the way around, but just half way, add it on top of the above which by the way, I make almost to her privates. After adding the skirt, you can add a big bow at the waist. I just made her a St. Patrick's Dress, and it is darling! Pat |

| Not to be dense, Pat -- but how did you get it to fit around her LEG area? My trouble with Lily isnt getting it to fit her tummy -- it;s getting it to go OVER her head and still fit her little legs in it, too. She keeps "walking out" of the prototypes I am making her Do you always velcro the bottom? that would solve the problem, certainly....

| I make dog coats from the simplicity pattern as well. Here's some variations you can do with the simplicity pattern. I made these for my maltese. I was not an experienced sewer when I began and I was able to do these easily because fleece is so easy to sew. Jodi |

| Angelina! I velcro the whole underneath area. I put one about 2 1/2 inches long from the neck on underside, and one from the front leg opening to where I want it. The front legs, I just cut a circle, then attach lace or whatever. Then on top of that, I use the half skirt ruffled and sew it on just below the arm holes. Then add a bow. Once you get one to fit, make a newspaper pattern for it and then you have it. Be sure to give enough material on the underside to turn under and then to add the velcro. Put the sticky side of velcro on the bottom part , so it won't catch their fur. It is really easy. Once, I had to make a dart so it would fit her neck better. Just experiment. It just isn't hard at all. That nice bow at the waist finishes it off really cute! By the way, Jo Ann's is having a sale on their Simplicity patterns for .99 That ends today. So, if you are close to one, this is the time to buy that pattern! It is in the craft section, I believe. Pat Last edited by mybirdys2003; 03-12-2005 at 10:09 AM. Reason: Adding to |
