| What kind of coat does my Priscilla have? Priscilla is a Morkie, which is half Yorkie, and half Maltese. Her coat is light, not heavy, and is soft. It also doesn't lay down very well especially on her head. I was wondering what kind of coat this sounds like. I'm wanting to grow her hair out to a longer coat, but not quiet show coat length. Also Priscilla will be turning 2 on June 19th. I recently cut her hair, and its rather short now. Is 2 a good age to start growing their hair out? Since her puppy coat should all be gone by now. I also added some pictures so you can get a better understand of what her coat looks like. I also recently purchased her some oatmeal shampoo, and also some shampoo that helps with sensitive skin. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I'm not sure what type of coat she has but she is so cute. I know when I cut Cali from full coat to puppy coat 1 1/2 years ago she still hasn't gotten back to full coat. But I have trimmed her a couple of times. So I would say at least a year in my guesstimate.

| My teddy is a morkie his hair was trimmed short 5/8 inch and within a few months was about three inches long. He has thick black hair so he got another puppy cut for summer. I hope to grow it out again for fall/winter. His brother has similar hair to your girl and keeps it long. The coat looks beautiful and silky. |

| if I compare Priscilla with Nena (my morkie). It seems like Priscilla has more of the yorkie hair. Nena has the maltese hair, it's cottony, curly and abundant. Priscilla's hair looks more fine, straight and less abundant.

| Priscilla is adorable! She looks like a petite, girlier version of my Momo. They have exactly the same type of coat. I'm not sure what type of coat it's officially called, but when you start to grow it, it will hang down straight on the sides...just like a Yorkie. The only difference is, my Yorkie's coat has more of a flow to it when he walks. Yoshi's coat is silky. Momo's is soft, but an actual piece of hair is thicker & more coarse than Yoshi's. However, when all of the thicker, more coarse hairs are combined in her coat, the whole coat isn't thick or coarse. So it's really hard for me to explain the type of coat she has. Maybe you can relate a little. Maybe that's what people call a "modified coat". Anyway, once you grow it, it will hang nicely straight at her sides. It just won't move around a lot when she walks. The blonde highlights will give her coat bit of depth as well. Good luck with growing her coat. Keep us posted on how it goes! I'm sure she'll look stunning

| I think it is really hard to know how long it will take for Priscilla's coat to grow. It depends on the dog, I think...some grow coat faster or slower than other dogs. Since Priscilla is mixed, it may be more difficult to exactly pinpoint what 'type' of coat she has or how long her coat will grow, or how fast. You might be able to 'guess' how long it will take by using the lengths it has already grown over the time periods between clippings. But, as to final length possible, I think that is likely a 'wait and see' prospect. As to coat 'type' I would guess that if Priscilla's coat has a sheen to it, then it is silky at least to some extent...even if it would be called a 'modified' coat. If it 'is' silky, and if it 'will' grow to a full length, it 'might' look something like Mia's when it is longer. She is golden, having lost all her black, silky, and her hair grows straight and FAST! She was cut really short when we got her on 8/13/11...this photo was taken 11/25/12 and she has not been trimmed since she came to live with us. Priscilla is a cute girl...her coat is only a small part of her charm, but there is no reason you cannot try growing it out to see what happens next!
