YT 2000 Club Member | Do you have a smart yorkie story? I always thought yorkies were very smart! This morning while laying in bed, Teeka had her pony tail out, from the night before and it was hanging in her eyes. I kept pushing it back with my hand. She moved away and went to the spot where I always leave her hair band & took it down. She looked at me and laid down. I said do you want that in? She laid her head on the bed so I could pull her hair back into a pony tail. After that she started bouncing around, happy as could be. Do you have a cute story about how smart you yorkie is?

| Most of the time, Huey shows his intelligence by his manipulation of his humans, like stealing items he shouldn't have so he will receive a treat to give them up. He is very smart, though, and can open a door inward by wedging his paw in the crack of an almost closed door and pulling it towards him. To open a door that goes outward, he stands on his back feet and pushes with his paws. He knows every door in the house and whether it is a push or pull. My parents dogs just sit at the door and bark. They don't even try. They were amazed Huey opened doors, especially the pull in ones. Oh yeah, if he goes potty and I didn't watch, he will show me where he went so he will get a treat. He knows he doesn't get treat unless Mom sees the potty.

Teddy likes to play 20 questions to tell me what he wants or needs. I ask questions and when I get to the right one, he spins and wags his tail. Usually I interject ridiculous questions to test whether he really understands. I'll ask if he wants to go to Disneyland. No. Then I'll ask if he has hair in eye, of if he needs a snuggle blankie, and so on.

YT 2000 Club Member | Max can tell time! He knows when his buddy should be on his way home from work. He usually sleeps on the couch but when it gets close to the time when Dh is expected to be home, Max then sits on the back of the couch, with his head stuck between the curtains to watch for his truck. When he sees it coming down the road, he goes nuts with whining and spinning to alert me that he is home! He also knows when it is time for him to get his breakfast....he sits in the kitchen and waits for me to get his bowl ready and then runs to his spot to wait for his food!

| last year late one night while I was on the phone with a sis n law Sonic was at the door barking at skittlz my Chihuahua and I was about to tell him to hush because I was on the phone and I realized skittlz was having a seizure *first seizure* she has never had one after that. I started screaming I was home alone at the time no way to go I was shaking so bad Monday rolled around first thing I called my vet and told them and they said since it was her first one you don't bring them in wait till they have another one and I also read this online. Thank GOD she has never had another one. If it wasn't for Sonic I would have thought she was rolling on a toy like she does when she plays with stuff toys ever since then Sonic has kept and eye on her even though at times he tries to get his groove on with her and the other 2 females * my mom's dogs* they are all spayed thank goodness. |

| At night Joey comes into bed and we all play, and when I look at him and tell him"time for bed" he knows thats the que to stop playing and go to sleep. If I get up after that, he always gives me the "stink eye" because I broke the rules He knows the difference between his toys and Carleys toys, and always makes sure to take hers when she is paying attention to him. And now he knows that the zebra sleeps with us, so he has conned me into letting the other zebra looking toy to join us in bed too lol

| I don't know if he was smart or just naughty but our late Charlie would steal food. Once my son left a burger that was still partially wrapped on the coffee table when he went to take a shower. It was his ritual to eat a burger on game nights. When he came out, he picked up the burger and everything was there except the meat. Somehow Charlie had managed to get the meat out and leave everything else in place. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I knew there were lots of stories of very smart yorkies......love them all! Tatiana is only 5 months and she already knows when it is time to go to sleep. When I go to bed Teeka and Tatiana are allowed to rough house for a few minutes on the bed. When I say, "its time for go to sleep" I turn the light off and she immediately goes to my pillow and lays down and Teeka goes under the covers and lays down! I think they understand what I say. All I have to say to Max to get him all excited is "Where's Alan" and he starts whining and looking for him!

| When I reach down to pick up Cinders with 1 hand, she wraps her front paws around my arm before I lift her up. I don't think she trusts that I won't drop her, cause she sure holds on tight!

| Cinders also stops at the houses in the neighborhood where some kids live. Each house that has a kid in it, she pauses and waits to see if the kids come out to pet her. She did this the 2nd time we took her for a walk though the neighborhood. The 1st time she must have noted which houses had kids.
