BANNED! | Anyone get rabies vaccine at 12 weeks?? Today my vet wanted to give Bella her rabies vac at 13 weeks, he said u can give it after 12. But I know that I've read a hundred times that the average age for it is 16 weeks. He gave her her second distemperment vac & a pain med. He told me she would be quite tired/drowsy from this & prolly wouldn't eat tonight. I questioned him about the rabies vac, so then he said that we'd better hold off till next time because he didn't know how she would react to both vaccines. Honestly, I'm glad he did & I'm glad I spoke up because she's so sick. She's shivering nonstop, I dressed her in a fleece hoodie & I'm cuddling her and she's still shivering. She's very out of it, she has zero energy. I hope this is normal?? He said she'd be tired & prolly not want to eat. Also, isn't it 16 weeks? I don't think she could handle both vaccines at once, this reaction shes having is scary. |

| I would go ahead and call the vet and let them know how she is acting to make sure she is ok.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Jasper finished all of his shots yesterday. Not the rabies. He is 18 week's old. He will get the Rabies shot all by itself. But he did fine with his and did not have side effects you've described. I would call your vet, she may be having a reaction and need Benedryl. I hope she feels better soon!

| I don't ever combine vaccinations. My two only get one at a time... I'm glad you spoke up! Have you called your vet about her reaction?

| The shivering does sound like hypoglycemia, but I'm concerned that if she gives her Bella nutrical or Karo syrup, and Bella doesn't eat any food afterwards because she is feeling out of sorts, it could make things worse. Beth should definitely call the vet. I'm worried, too! |

| What is a pain med or benadryl? Both would make her tired, but shivering would have me very worried. If it were me, I would be at the ER. You can wait up until 6 months for the rabies.

BANNED! | Thank u guys! Ughh I'm soo ticked off at my vet! Bella is much better now, thank god! She just had a little boiled chicken. I gave her some nutri cal before so that could be why she had energy now to eat some chicken. But shes still not herself & groggy looking. She's sleeping next to me now. I was petting her & feeding her chicken and her tail was wagging my poor little baby. I've never ever seen her like this. She's always a mile a minute |

| Depending on the pain med given, that could be the problem. It could also be pain. If your pup is eating but still shaking it probably is not hypo. That is young for a rabies vaccine. Depending on state law the deadline is usually four months. And it s best to follow the law bc if pup bites even in playing and recipient gets any strange symptoms (or the dog) then dog will be decapitated, period. If no symptoms, then ay be quarantined. Not worth the risk.
