| Bringing my new puppy home soon HI. I have an 18 month old Yorkie (Coooper) and we are getting our second 10 week old brother (same mom) (Maxwell). Any tips for making the reception successful? cooper is a very friendly pup. Loves people, love dogs, and is not possessive at all, but I don't want him to get bent out of shape when Max shows up. Any and all comments welcome! thanks. Lyn |

Some recommend introducing the two in a neutral location. Some do it at a park or the like. I had the benefit of having a couple of rooms in my house that my older dog had never stepped foot in - so I used one of those rooms. What I did was went in alone but with the new pup's (Mandie's) smell on me. I let him sniff her scent on me for a minute or two. Then, I went to the car and got Mandie from my hubby. I walked back into the house, holding Mandie backwards so Shelby could sniff her butt. Then, I went into that "neutral" room with them and my husband. We closed the door and just all sat on the floor. They checked each other out for a while. There was never any sort of actions that made me worry about them being together. So, if you come across that with your two..I would just always be with them when they are together until it passes. Do sort of a gradual integration - keep them separated less and less until not at all Congrats on your new addition! Can't wait to see pics!! (hint hint)

| The best thing for your pup is to stay with his mom until 12 weeks.

| ill add be sure cooper goes first for everything...treats, food etc etc. that helps keep the jealousy down imo. i agree with them meeting in a neutral area. they may take a couple of weeks to bond and adjust. congrats and we cannot wait to see pictures.

| Thanks for the Tips! I love my guy Coop way more than I should, so I am hoping that adding Max will not upset him too much. I take way too many picts so here are a few more! |

The only thing I ever really did with a new family member or a foster was to give them a bath in the same shampoo as the others. They tend to accept the new one quicker. I would then just let them outside to play and just watch how they interacted and decided where the pecking order was. It's amazing to watch it all act out.

| When we got Kyra it took Laddy about 2 weeks to adjust to her. Just be patient and before you know it they will be best of friends. Congratulations on the new puppy. Your little guy is adorable by the way .
