| What HAVE I Done?!?!? This being Brody's 2nd Annual Gotcha Day, heehee, I thought I would share tonight's 'Brody Story' with you all. Now, with Brody, there is 'a story a minute' all the time, but at this moment, we have an unfolding saga going on here, and I am being constantly interrupted by 'errrr-ing' and 'patting' and dancing and barking because I've upset the 'Yorkie-cart'...upset the balance of toy power in this house. You see, the problem is because I (Mommy), in my unknowingness, did a terrible, fateful thing...I WASHED a few of his toys!!! You read that right... It started this past Saturday. I took Brody and Mia to get a nail trim. Something that would have taken me half a lifetime to do, those ladies did before I could find a "Good Yorkie!" toy for each of them. I swear it took less than 10 minutes for them to trim and dremmel both kids' nails. Shocked...you bet I was. So the lady showed me what few toys they had left, and it happened that they had a couple of the cutest leftover Christmas toys...a Santa-Moon and a Snowman-Moon. The lady started to apologize, but I stopped her by saying, "Oh Wow! They don't have THESE toys yet!" (How revealing is that...! hahaha) [Pardon the interruption while I become THE chew toy...]

| Fast forward and you will find us at home on Saturday, bag in hand. Crinkly bag, in hand, that is. Brody LOVES a crinkly bag. Toys come in crinkly bags...and he chooses WHICH toy HE wants FIRST. So, Mia and I let him choose. He dove head first into the bag, examined both toys and chose "Santa-Moon" as HIS! and off he ran to the love seat...aka "toy box # 1" to play with his new, favorite toy. Well, last night Mommy was bad. Mommy took the well slobbered on Santa-Moon, and all the other toy box # 1 toys off the love seat and put them on the coffee table so she could (OMG!) vacuum the love seat! And...she forgot them there. Yeah, I know...EGADS!!! so, tonight, Brody noticed the toys, and what toy was right on top, highly visible? Yep...Santa-Moon! Brody tried to tell Mommy he wanted his toys back, but Mommy just wasn't picking up on it. She got him fresh cool water, and held the (yep...HER) soup mug while he drank from it. But, he eventually realized Mommy was way too slow on the draw, and began patting, errrr-ing, barking, dancing, AND POINTING at the mound'o'toys on the coffee table! He finally had to break down and jump off the love seat, go to the edge of the coffee table, walk on his hind legs, visually eye-balling HIS toys 'cuz his Mommy just wasn't getting it. Brody won't take the toys off the table...he is too polite for that...even the ones that are right on the edge...the ones he can actually reach. But, he is NOT too proud to beg and harrass Mommy for depriving him of his much loved toys. Now, here's where the story goes really south. Instead of Mommy fetching his toys for him, Mommy scooped them all up...and...put them in the WASHER!!! OMG!!!

| Mommy realized the damage that had been done, Brody made sure of that by frantically pacing and following and scrutenizing Mommy's every move until Mommy finally took the hint and fetched a freshly washed bag of 'other' toys, and offered them to Mr. Brody to hold him over for the next 45 minutes. She put the crinkly bag in the floor so he could choose his 'temporary' toys. He rooted in the bag, removed every single one...eventually...chew-and-squeak-tested EACH and EVERY TOY, repeatedly, looking for a replacement. After almost 10 minutes, he settled...and I DO MEAN SETTLED...for Green Froggie, and brought it to the love seat. Brody is very neat with his toys. He never leaves a mess, and will literally jump down to pick up his toys if they fall off toy box # 1 (the love seat) or toy box # 2 (our bed). He will also carry a toy to its 'proper' toy box (he has 'assigned' them 'home' locations...lol) when anyone else puts a toy in the wrong location. The entire contents of said crinkly bag is spread all over the floor around said crinkly bag. Gasp!

| Green Froggie is a far cry from Santa-Moon, so, while Mr. Brody tired really hard to play with and squeak Green Froggie, He has now abandoned him on the love seat, has given Mommy a good 'what for' talking to, and has given up trying to play with a 'temporary toy' and retreated to a 'tent' he built by pulling a corner of a cover we'd laid over the couch during the last rain storm, and is giving Mommy the 'stink eye' periodically while waiting for the wash cycle to end and Mommy to live up to her promise to return Santa-Moon to active play. I guess should have video taped this ordeal, but it is quite possible that, due to the 'pathetic nature' of this unfolding saga, I might need to get an official government 'rating' and all that red tape and paperwork takes time Brody doesn't think I have...at least not until the washer finishes the spin cycle.

| Finale... A 45 minute wash cycle on my machine is longer than 45 minutes on the clock. Heck, the last "1 minute" takes closer to 10 minutes. However, Brody accompanied me most of the way to get his toys. On my way, I picked up all the 'unsatisfactory toys' discarded all over the floor...poor substitutes for the toys he really wanted. I probably should say that toys regularly 'disappear' into the washer...every weekend, in fact...and they get 'recycled' and he gets to 'choose' a new combination of 'favorite' toys every week. Also, my washer spins at 1,200 rpm so toys come out of it almost completely dry. So, after carrying the basket back, full of freshly washed toys, I offered it to Brody to choose a toy... SANTA-MOON!!! He snatched Santa-Moon out of the basket and ran to the love seat. We now have 12 freshly washed toys back on the love seat, and the rest are still in the basket...which is lying on its side a few feet away. Brody is barking, and errrr-ing, and dancing, and patting the basket because... ...there is a toy he wants... ...and he wants me to help him get it out. He can see it through the basket... ...and I... ...am laughing hysterically! Does this stuff happen to anyone else? ...Now... Please pardon me while I fetch a toy, and make one Yorkie boy VERY HAPPY...on HIS Gotcha Day!

| He did indeed, and he's been 'protecting' it from the mean ole Mommy toy thief since he snatched it from the jaws of the toy eating laundry basket. He even tunneled under the sheet we draped over the love seat during the raina few days ago, toy in his mouth, made himself a 'tent', laid it between his paws and put his head down on it to nap. He was very tired after all that hopping and popping. I truly wish I had the entire thing on video!

| Thank you, all. I could spend every minute typing up the amusing, sweet, intelligent things they do every minute of every day, but I get tired thinking of all that work. However, I just had to share that one story. We ended up going to bed around midnight from all that excitement...and I ended up having to carry Mr. Brody AND the laundry basket to our bed so he could watch me empty the rest of HIS (and Mia's) toys onto the bed...after which he personally checked each and every one, counted, and logged them...perhaps for 'insurances purposes'...you know, in case they get stolen again. You maybe should also know that all toys from the week get washed on each and every weekend. But...OMG...NEVER on a TUESDAY NIGHT!!! Hugs to you all and lots of kisses to all the good little Yorkie and furry kids!
