| Hello everyone! I posted a while back wanting to know people's opinions on male or female. Well....... I now have my first female yorkie! I named her Daisy and she is 16 weeks old. She was a little younger in my profile picture and had just had her first puppy bath! I love her so much! she went to the vet on Saturday for her last round of shots and at 3 months old, she weighs 4 lbs. the breeder told me she would probably be about 6. I know that's just a guess though. I guess my ? To all fellow yorkie lovers out there is, is 4 lbs too big for a 3 month puppy? |

| Hello and welcome. It is always hard to tell with puppies. My Eva Luna is 14 weeks old and only two pounds, however she is sooooo fat compare to my 7 month old P.J. Sebastian, who is long and taller at only five pounds. Does she look fatty like a ball of fur or is she stretching out like an older dog? Is she a good, quick eater? Or does she take her sweet time to eat her meals? How is her energy level? Enjoy your baby!

| Hi and congrats on getting Daisy! What a cutie pie!!! I definitely don't think 4 lbs is too big. You are right - any guess is just a guess, but do you know how much her parents weighed? That might help. The general rule of thumb (which I think doesn't work more than it does) is to double the weight at 12 weeks of age. You say she weiged 4 lbs at 12 weeks? (3 months?) How much does she weigh now at 16 weeks/4 months? If I ventured a guess with none of these answers, I'd say that Daisy will end up being around 7ish pounds (perhaps closer to 7.5 lbs) once done growing. I think that's a great size!!

| On the meals it all depends, sometimes she eats all her food at one time, and others she just leaves some for the next meal. She DEFINITELY HAS energy! And I would say she is stretching out length wise. |

Anyway, I still think 4 lbs can never be too big. I'd much rather have a sturdier Yorkie if at all possible. Too small and it scares me to death for their safety and health, ya know?

| Thanks for the info! I was wondering how to do that! I've got to figure out how to make the pic smaller though. I'm using an iPad right now to post. |
