| Is Taka a Cotton Hair? I thought since he was only a puppy when we got him that he had "puppy hair" but now that he is 7m old it's still the same. I know 7m is still a puppy but I've read that they have their coats by like 5-6m. It is really unruly and doesn't lay down like I've seen most yorkies coats. His face is very silky but thats all. Surprisingly, it doesn't really mat up at all, I do brush him every other day though. Also, when I do brush him not even 1 minute later its back to being unruly and doesn't even look like I tried lol. I was thinking if it is cotton should I have him shaved or keep trying to grow it long? I don't care either way cuz I ADORE HIM but just curious!! I attached one picture, the other ones are in my albums. Thanks for the help! Also, Why does Lily ferociously clean Taka's ears and then start humping him?? lol He just rolls over and lets her clean his ears but when she starts humping him he runs. |

| It does not look cotton to me from the pic, some have a silky but kind of wirey hair & that's what it looks like to me & it will look a bit unruly even after a bath & brushing. I think it looks cute, the wild look, lol. The humping is claiming dominance over him, showing him she is the BOSS. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | agree from the picture does not look cotton, he is very cute, Molly had similar coat at that age now she's nearly 3 years she has fine straight hair. I would just go for a trim tidy up and see how it grows

| Look at that precious little face!! He is adorable! I can not really tell from the pic but it could be "modified"...thick, course, wirey....if he is true black, that is what majority of the true blacks are....what an absolutely wonderous thing a true black silk is! |

| My Eva is 6 months old and her coat is silky, but within minutes of me grooming her she is a hot mess! She still has puppy coat and I can tell a difference between it and the new coat she is growing on her legs ... maybe there is hope yet for her! Taka is a adorable, but I don't think he is cottony coated, his coat looks more like my Eva's coat. I will try to post a photo for you, maybe one of these will work; http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=127186 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/pic...ctureid=127186

| I think his coat is beautiful. His head looks very silky and his colors are great. He is still so black! Huey had gone all over silvery by 8 months and then darkened up again.

| He looks like my Molly! He hair is definitely slow growing. I was hoping to be able to do a knot on her head but it's not long enough yet. I haven't had her groomed since I got her the end of January. I'm just glad that her coat is finally growing more and looks silky but her face is wild like your Taka. |

| Definitely not cotton. My female has a cotton coat and it is THICK. It mats really easily and is verrrry soft. Your baby appears to have a fine silky coat.

| Oh my! Your baby is adorable! Does not look like a cotton coat to me either. P-Nut is 1 yr 7 months and still black. His head and legs are silky, body is cottony - and there's no mistaking my little fuzzball's "cotton-ness." LOL. |

| Haha...I just realized that is not all blanket Taka is laying on...I see another dog under there. Ok, I'm a little slow sometimes, but the pink collar just caught my attention.

| I don't think a cotton coat either. He is a handsome little guy with a beautiful coat. My Chloe has a cotton coat she is 7 1/2 months. Her hair is very thick, long and soft. |
