Senior Yorkie Talker | My Baby can't See! I need advice. My Yorkie is 13 weeks old and the hair around her eyes sticks up making it hard for her to see. I read somewhere that someone uses hair gel to comb it down. I also read someone trimmed it. What should I do?

| It depends on what you want for a look, Full coat or shorter. If you want a Full coat then use the gel but if you want a shorter face then do a trim. Most groomers do a sani cut & they will do the face & bum/PP area for a fraction of the cost of a full groom. |

I prefer to use gel. Personally, I don't like the look of trimmed hair around the eyes, plus it requires constant upkeep of the trimming to keep it looking good and to keep the hair out of the eyes. But, it also depends on how fast your yorkie grows coat. ZoE's hair is very slow growing, so it takes forever to get little pieces (and new growth) long enough to stay down, even with gel.

| I trim the hair around Tatiana's eyes. They grow INTO her eyes. It's true - it takes constant upkeep. I do a touch-up once a week on bath day. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Trimming the hair around their Eyes is a choice, but, don't think for a minute that they can't see through it...they can ! Many Breeds (Old English for one) are quite sensitive to light, and Vets don't recommend cutting that hair on them at all. In my case, I brush, but never cut that hair, because I take my guys out Hunting, and the hair around their Eyes forms a layer of protection for them when in pursuit through the foliage.
