| Shaking and acting strange We have a 2 year old Yorkie and occasionally he curls up in a ball in an out of the way place and won't come when we call him. We have to search the house to find him, and when we do find him, he's shaking really bad. We try to reassure him and try to get him to play, but he is not interested in anything, not even treats. Sometimes he's in the bottom of the closet and sometimes he is under the couch. Normally, he is very playful and comes when you call him. Anybody know why he acts so wierd? This is the first Yorkie we have ever had. |

| That doesn't sound normal. He may be sick or in pain. I would have a vet check him out. Has he been doing this very long?

| Could be some anxiety. Did you change something when it happens? Did he just come back from the vet or from being in th car? Was there a rainstorm? Did he do something he knows is wrong? |

| I would take him to the vet to be on the safe side. These little ones can go down quickly so please take him in, especially if he has never done this before.

| Could he be cold? When Callie is cold she pretty much shuts down. Other reasons to shake could be pain or fear. Has anything that could be scary have happened? Also you might want to check the color of his gums if they are pale he could be experiencing low blood sugar although rare in adult dogs it can happen and normally means something more serious. It might be a good idea to get him checked out by a vet maybe do a little blood work if the vet can't find anything.

| I agree, it sounds like your baby may be in pain. I would go for a vet check & specifically have the anals checked while you are there. |

| Yes....sounds like pain or fear, since it appears to be intermittant...next time you notice him doing this, think real hard about what has transpired in his day...see if it could be related to somnething relly simple and insignificant in YOUR mind, but has ann adverse effect on him. But regardless, I would take him to the vet when he does this and have them check him out....since it is an intermittant problem, it is going to be difficult to pinpoint probably.....hopefully, you can get this diagnosed and hopefully it is nothing significant.... |

| Has your 2 year old Yorkie been doing this all of his two years or is this something recent?

| Vet him first and if he gets a clean bill of health, it is probably avoidance based on fear. But first, the vet. Shaking and trembling and isolating can easily be illness and/or pain.
