| My baby got a bad haircut -- and his whole body is WHITE! I'm having a hard time. I took my boy in today to get a "big boy" cut. His puppy coat was long and unruly and he had grown out a few different colors. He is 8 months old. He was black and tan when I got him, but the roots on his head where almost white. As his body hair grew out you could pull the length of the hair out and see the different colors it went. Strange. The tips were dark new puppy black, then a shocking white and then they grey into a grey color. I was okay with this. Thinking if they cut him short he would be grey body and light gold head. I had NO idea his roots below the grey were white again. They just did a TERRIBLE job. They gave him a summer cut and basically just shaved his whole body and he is ALL white. There is a little bit of grey left on his back, but you can't really see it. He looks naked and like a friggin chihuahua. I know some of this is the shock of seeing my baby like this. I made a bad decision. I should have just stuck with the puppy cuts and let his unruly body hair stay and maybe gave him a trim. He looks half his size now lol and cold! We living in Michigan, it's still not warm yet. Even when he was having baths, his body was dark. Now he's just... white. I've never seen a yorkie like this? All the pics are on my phone but I'll email some to myself so I can post them. I'm surprised at how sad I am right now. I'm just ordering him a few more hoodies to hide what they did to him. No wonder she had me pay before she brought him back out to see me. I HATE it. I probably would have refused to pay. But I just wanted to get out of there and look at him at home. I love my baby no matter what, but this is such a shocking change. Wonder why he's so white. Its like a very pale goldish white, but there is no dark anywhere left on his body. I didn't see his parents when I got him, but I'm going to call and ask how they are colored. Has anyone else seen this ? Can anyone share any pics? |

| Oh...I can so feel your frustration. I'm so sorry! But IT WILL GROW! I'm anxious to see photos because I'm really curious to see what all white Yorkie looks like. They must have really cut a lot off to get down to the all white part. Poor baby I had one bad grooming experience & I haven't taken my pup back. I've been trying to trim him myself. I'm not a great groomer. At all. So he's been pretty scruffy for many months now. Anyway, just know that his coat will grow back!

| Thanks for the kind words! I'm surprised at how sad I am! It's not a white like snow, but its a white with pale gold undertones, I guess that's the easiest way to describe it. But there is NO grey or black on his body right now at all, except for the very very tips of his face, which I am not happy with the cut they did on his face either. He looks so odd right now. His hair, what little is left, feels really silky now but he is shaved so close that he looks almost bald. I am emailing some pics to myself now and will post them in the next reply. although I'm embarrassed at how he looks right now! I'll post some old ones too. I of course love him no matter, he's my shadow and my little boy! Since his hair did this weird thing where it went from black to white to grey I wonder if it will go grey again? |

| Oh...I am so sorry. Bad hair cuts are awful. I hope you can post the pix you took. I'd like to see his color myself. Brody's tan was grey, silver, and pale platinum blond for a while, then the more golden tan came in. It's been interesting watching the changes. Mia lost all her black before I got her and her previous owner trimmed off most of the black tips. You could barely see the black tips that were left, and you needed very bright light and good eyes. lol She is completely golden now, and her pale platinum blonde got a little darker, more golden tan about the same time Brody's golden tan came in...started coming in about 2 yrs old, if I correctly recall. Your baby's hair will grow out. Keeping him warm will require some sweaters, hoodies, fleece shirts, etc., if he's anything like Brody. {{{Hugs}}}

| I agree, take heart, your baby's hair will grow back -- and his color will probably change. My Teddy was white blond on his head and parts of his body with black tips. His white hair looked like it had been dipped in ink. Sorry I don't have any of those pics on this computer. He looked like the lead singer from Kajagoogoo, if you are old enough to know the 80s band. Teddy's head turned tan/gold by the time he was 2. He still has a lot of blond underneath his dark saddle. You can see some of the blond hair sticking out in this pic -- his saddle looks scraggly in this pic: Here you can see Teddy's back is lighter than his brother's: This pic shows Teddy lighter head, but he had already started to darken:

| Thank you guys for all the comments! I'm laughing as I sit here and wipe my tears. I had no idea it would affect me like this. But you're all making me feel better and reassuring me is really helping. Thank you! Platinum blonde is a good description as someone said. I won't mind if he's that color all over, but definitely not THIS short. it's horrible. I just emailed the pics so I'm posting them in just a second. |

| Thank you. Look at the bright side, the puppy hair (often difficult to groom) is gone and your baby is now growing a fresh adult coat. Give him a hug and tell him he is beautiful.

| Okay I've got some pics up in the album - not sure how to post them in the thread just yet though, but I will figure it out. The pic from the cut makes me so ashamed. :-( I have a few more I'm uploading |
