| Oil treatment Teddy is getting a warm oil treatment today. I just poured warm oil diluted with some water all over his coat. Now I am leaving the treatment to set while I get my daughters ready for school, then I will come home and give him his bath. |

| oh my goodness! lol Yeah, does he try to lick it off? And, what kind do you use? Mandie's hair on her back is so dry and breaks and frizzes..if this actually works, I might try it.

| I've tried this with Jojoba oil before...just because that's what I had in the house. It really does work! It helps the skin as well. I noticed that Yoshi had a dry tummy over the winter so I figured I'd try it. I used an essential oil because essential oils sink into the coat & skin - rather than just coat the hair.

| Hmmm, this is why I give Mandie coconut oil - because her hair is on the dry side and her tummy is always dry. I have definitely seen an improvement in her tummy but just not so much her hair. I think I will try this on her.

| I've used coconut oil and miracle oil. It really helps his coat. A good clensing shampoo is needed as well, cause his coat gets alot of product build up. From conditioning stuff I've bought, from pethead. His coat is gonna be gorgeous Have fun!!! |

| I've heard that people use coconut oil on the coat as well - in addition to feeding it. However, coconut oil is a saturated fat. It won't mix with water. So I'm not really sure how well it would work as a coat conditioner? I don't understand how the coat & skin would absorb the coconut oil. I'm no expert, so I'm just assuming all of this based on what I know about essential oils vs. saturated fat...But people do say that coconut oil works too. I've never tried it myself. I've only tried Jojoba oil.

| From what I know about human hair there's a chance that coconut oil may actually make you (or a dog) shed. It's fantastic for dry skin on hands, feet, knees and elbows but I wouldn't put it on my scalp for that reason. It does work well on the ends of the hair though. For a persons (or dog's) scalp you could try a lighter oil like olive, avocado, grapeseed or apricot. I'm vegan so I don't partake in this but I know a lot of people use an egg or egg white mixture on their face and hair. The reason why Mayo (ewww) works so well as a conditioner is because it's made up of oil and egg. |

| Oh, let me explain...I put a little coconut oil in her food AND I brush her teeth with it (it's the only way she'll let me brush her teeth lol). I do rub a tad on her tummy/skin, though.

| Coconut not going to hurt them one bit to ingest it and have it rubbed on dry skin. It's really really good for them! Also, I don't think that rubbing it into places where they have hair is going to make them go bald either. I've just read a lot that people have noticed when they use coconut oil on their scalp they have noticed that they shed more hair. I have long hair and I use it a few times a week on just my ends. |

| I wish I could get Lola to ingest coconut oil, she only eats dry food and she free feeds, some days she eats everything in her bowl sometimes it takes two days so I can't put it on the food, at one time she would lick it off my finger but not anymore. I was melting it and giving it to her with an eye dropper but she hated that and it was PITA to do. Not being a full bred yorkie her hair is different, it's much more dry, I can go three weeks without bathing her, while my yorkies could hardly make it a week without a bath.

| I use olive oil for the topical, just like for my own hair, but it does take a few washes to wash out the extra oil. His fur is silky soft now. I dont remember exactly how the skin absorbs, but dr oz explained it on his show. Excellent for human hair and scalp so I figured works for mine should try it on him. |
