| Very attached? Is your Yorkie super attached? (This is not a complaint or concern post, just general curiousity) My Charlie is 4 1/2 months old, I'm a SAHM so he gets a lot of people time. And he loves it. He loves every single person he meets(so far), and dog too. But he's a clingy fella. He's heartbroken if we have to go somewhere without him. He's like the ultimate lap cat, because he's a dog instead lol. As an example - As I was typing this, he's been beside me, on my lap, on the laptop, on my shoulder, and now he's back along side of me, gazing at me. Ah, I never knew I could love a small dog so much. |

| While Oakley is with my DH and DK (dear kids) more than me, he's very attached to me and only wants me when I get home from work. Where ever I am, Oakley is right there either by my feet or in my lap. On Good Friday, my DH and one of my kids and I went to a friend's house for a crawfish boil and didn't plan on staying as late as we did. My son texted me about 7:00 and asked if we were going to be much longer because Oakley was by the front door crying. I felt so horrible. Oakley will be 5 months on the 18th..

| That's so cute! Many yorkies have their favorite person, sounds like you are it! My foster Dakota is really attached to me and I've only had her two weeks. My yorkie Uni couldn't really be bothered. She loved everyone fairly equally, even strangers, but if you try to go somewhere without her, be ready for some pouting!

| Mandie is more attached to her daddy than to me. But she definitely wants attention. If nobody is paying her attention, that's when you hear from her. I will hear her bark from the other room at hubby while I am on the computer. Then I feel a pat on my ankle and a bark at my feet. Then, she decides it is time to harass her brother, who is calmly sleeping at my feet. Yup..she's attached....to attention lol

| Attached? You mean like can't walk from one room to another without a shadow? Can't go to the bathroom without a furbutt in your lap? Stop and check every time you go to the door/turn around/take a step to make sure he's not right on your heels? Sitting on one cheek because he's curled up thisclosetoyou and you'll squash him if you sit flat? Naah. Not attached at all.

| Callie turns 6 in May and she is extremely attached to me. She shuts down when I have to go somewhere even though I never leave her alone someone is with her but she will just go to sleep wont eat for them or anything. I hand feed her which I am sure helped that but I feel like its a bonding thing for us plus she wont eat otherwise. She follows me everywhere. I think it may be the breed because my mom has a yorkie she rescued who loves her and will follow her every where and shut down when she is gone.

| My Tibbe is the same way - loves to be touching me or on me somehow. I think most terriers are "people dogs" and want to become very personal pets. They want to live your life right along beside you. My Tibbe thinks when the phone rings it is for him - gets excited and gets right in my lap and tries to engage in the conversation, so excited! He usually does get to "talk" to the caller if it is a friend or family member! He loves it and he is typical of what a Yorkie is like. Watching TV, reading, working on the computer, talking on the phone - they are in your lap. If you bathe or shower, they want to be tubside. Cook? They would like to be at your feet in the kitchen - watch out because you can spill hot liquids on them or drop a knife, fork, food they shouldn't have and which a Yorkie will scoop up before you can blink your eye! They become your shadow. One thing you want to be careful of is that your dog is well-socialized and spends time around others and with other dogs, too, in order to keep him from becoming dependent upon you. A dependent dog becomes very nervous and unsure when his owner leave the house or when left with others while you are traveling, etc. They often cry and bark uncontrollably, whine and fret, chew on anything they can get their teeth on, including their own paws or bodies at times and pee/poop is undesirable places out of frustration and nerves. It's fairly rare for a dog to suffer severely with these behaviors but it can happen in some cases. Just watch him to be sure he's not becoming so clingy that it is uncomfortable for you and others. If you see that happening, start to crate him once or twice a day or put him in another room for five minutes at a time while you are home to start working up to an hour or more so he can learn how to stay quiet by himself and sleep rather than raising a ruckus by not being on or near you when you are in the house. Later, practice crating him in the same room with you. In time this can teach a clingy, dependent dog that he can learn how to remain calm when you are home but separated.

| Mina's other name should be velcro. She is a bit more independant in the house, meaning that she will hang with the fur-brothers. But if I sit,I sit indian style,at least then I can stack the laptop over her. If she goes to any kind of outing she is lil miss independant, until someone else wants to hold her. Then she will whine until she is on my feet or in my hands. |

| If Peanut could get any closer he would!! He is sooooo attached to me. When I’m gone he is in front of the door waiting for me. If I am gone at night (sometimes I will spend the night at my Mom’s or Brother’s house) and DH tells me he is laying on my pillow.. and he mopes around the house until I come home. If I am gone for 20 minutes he acts as if I was gone for a lifetime!! I have heard the boys get more attached to the female in the house, and boy is that correct! Peanut is my little shadow, he is always right by me where ever I go. It is so cute, I just love him to death! I’m so glad he is attached to me, I just love the attention- and he loves all the attention I give him. He was so cute last night, before we went to bed he was on the bed and rolled over so DH and I could rub his belly and give him kisses, he was making these little squeaking noises- just soaking it all in. I love how you say ultimate lap cat because I always call Peanut my little kitty! LOL Aww Charlie is still a little pup- 4 ½ months.. how cute! Just wait until he gets older, the bond grows closer and closer.
