| My Yorkies is sick My Sooki is 11 years old and weighs 19 lbs. He was diagnosed with a heart murmur and congestive heart failure and after an arguement with my vet about them doing blood test and xrays on Sooki without my permission they only charged me for the office visit and woud not sell me the medicine they were going to give him. I read online to give him Furosemide and Enalapril but am not sure what dosage and frequency of giving the medication. I am out of work and don't have the money to go to another vet. Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!! |

| Oh my goodness. I am so sorry about your Sooki. Sweetie, if your baby has congestive heart failure, I don't think you need to self medicate him with anything. I understand you are out of work, but is there anyway that you could borrow some funds from some family or friends? Perhaps look into Care Credit. In the end, you could check with a Yorkie Rescue in your area. If you can't afford the meds and treatment for Sooki, maybe you could allow a rescue to take him in and give him the care he needs. This has to be so very hard for you. I cannot even imagine. I'm so sorry for what you and Sooki are going thru

| I believe these meds have to be prescribed to you by a vet. Lolita was 4lbs and on a quarter pill a day but had to get them from her vet. Bless your heart I will be praying for your little one it is such a hard thing to watch them with this. I would never recommend giving without a vet saying how much though because they can cause severe dehydration if overdosed and other side affects.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear about Sooki. Is there any way you can have your vet give you the prescription for the 2 medicines. If you paid for the visit you should be entitled to the medicines. I believe they are both medicines you can get at Target pharmacy and are not that expensive. The medicines are crucial to get Sooki on as soon as possible. Keep us posted.

| JustAnswer.com is a service on line where you can ask a vet questions related to your pet. You have to pay a fee....something like $20.00 to have your question answered....you can tell the vet what your vet diagnosed your baby....you can even give lab results....any information you want to give to help him answer your question, he will take. He may give you how much to give your pup, according to his weight. You need to get VERY knowledgable about these two drugs, dosages and side effects....you must know about CHF and how it affects your baby.....this isnt an antibiotic that can be a hit or miss, guesstimation type of thing...you are dealing wqith a diseased heart and meds that affect heart muscle, rate, rhythm, and fluid and electrolytes.....you can kill your dog, playing vet. If you do not have the funds to even spend on this site, I feel horrible for you and your baby.....can you hock a piece of jewelry....gold prices are super and a broken necklace can get you enough for a vet visit.... | tough times OMG how cruel. I feel so badly for you. It's bad enough your dog is ill, but to have test results, and not give you a prescription? That is so wrong on so many levels. I too am out of work, and no more unemployment for me. It's very hard, but at least my vet tries her very best to work with me. She prescribed enapril, not very expensive, and not sure of the spelling. 2.5 mg, and he's 10 pounds. Maybe it's time for another Vet. There must be someone out there willing to help you. Best of luck. |
