YorkieTalk Newbie! | Newbie here I have been a pug owner for 10 years, now we own 1 pug (Morpheus) and a Yorkie (Layla). Layla is 5 months old. Which brings me to this site..these two dogs were instant friends..and we never tire of their continuous play, it's so cute! She seems to be bathroom trained (outside),An occasional accident.. But so many questions.. Like Why does she droll? And can I help her stop? One eye leeks tears..can I help her with that? She came with papers from the breeder.. I could use advise on how and when to train tricks and commands. Best shampoos and such.. I guess I am here to learn mostly and share with other owners. Thanks. |

| Welcome to yorkie talk!!! Another Minnesotan Yeah!!!! I actually "live" near you on weekends as my boyfriend lives in Forest Lake. My favorite pet store and grooming pawlor is in White Bear Lake- Lulu and Luigi's!!! So, some answers to your questions: I would have the vet check her for the drool and eye tears. Just a little red flag to me. I would start her training now. If you use the search tool your should find threads about training. There are members on here that give EXCELLENT training advice. Personally for Shampoos I have used Bio-groom when they were puppies and liked it alot. I was given Chris Christensen in the gift exchange and I lived loved loved it. I didn't have to give my girls a bath for two weeks. Sigh I accidently left it at the boyfriends house last time I was down there so I picked up some Espree shampoo and conditioner. I liked it but preferred the Chris Christensen!!!! Please post some pics and don't be afraid to ask questions!!!!

| Hi and welcome to YT! Congrats on getting Layla. Yeah, you might want the vet to check the drooling and the tearing eye - it could be allergies. However, at 5 months old, she is also teething - getting ready to get her adult teeth so it might be related to this. With the eyes, other than allergies, it could be as simple as making sure no hair is poking her in the eye. Mandie's eyes used to water a lot more than they do now. I changed her food to grain free and started giving her filtered water (some even give the Gerber baby water or distilled water). There is something about the hard water in some taps that could cause the tearing. Tricks, you can start those at any time. We have a member who has a 21 week old puppy who has been doing tricks for weeks already. Very special, but shows it is never too early. Just schedule time with Layla and you alone (with little treats of course) each day and work on some basics like sit, stay, come and build on that. OH, also..post pics of both Layla and Morpheus when you get a chance. We LOVVVVE us some pics around here

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thank you I appreciate the warm welcomes and the ideas in response to my very first writing. So appreciated. I will be checking into some new Chris C shampoo, and working on training daily. I'll begin in the search engine. Hum,teething! That sure makes sence as Layla was not drooling at all even a week ago. The eye..she has had some puppy haircuts but I will watch for hair and ask at the next apt. She is deffenitlly different then the pugs.. I'm not sure how to attach photos yet..I'm working on it |
