| Quick important question! Mia just turned 5 months and is not showing any signs of being in heat, usually it's 6 months right? Well anyway, on Sunday I am taking her with us to Easter dinner. We are going to my boyfriends aunts house who has a male dog that is not fixed. She said they have had no problems with him humping. She also said since Mia isn't in heat it should be fine. If I just keep an eye on her will it be ok for her to be near a male dog?? I did catch her humping her bone pillow today thank you!

YT 2000 Club Member | Not all yorkies come in season at 6 months. Teeka was 8 months and never came into heat before her spay.

| If she is not in heat, she should be fine. Just keep a close watch on her.

| Check her little private area. If she is getting close to coming in you will see swelling there.

| Uni didn't get her first heat until she was 13 months, so they are all different. Just double check to see she isn't starting to swell and it should be ok. But that said, I wouldn't let her out of my sight, in heat or not.

| Just watch her and don't leave her alone unobserved with the male at all and separate them if he approaches her to mount. Once that happens, just hold her or maybe they will put him up or hold onto him, too.
