| Help!!!!! My Yorkie won't stop... Hello, I haven't been on here in quite a while. I just got a new puppy, he's a little over 12 weeks old, I've had him for two weeks, today. When he first came from the breeder he was on eukanueba food, well he's had diharrea ever since I got him. I've changed his food to lamb food. We've went to the vet twice, they first gave him pills to take, that didn't fix it then they gave him a liquid medicine we've been on it for a week as of today, still no solid stools. He poops quite a bit in a day too. I also tried just giving him bottle water instead of tap, since the breeder was on well water. The vet said he doesn't have parvo that he possibly has a food allergy. Anyone else have this problem? I would love to try and find something that can help him!!! By the way, his name is Knox and Aubrey isn't too fond of it. Help please!! |

| Wicket and Teddy both had a reaction to heartguard plus last month first time they have been on it, we were using interceptor before, both ended up at the vets for diarrhea couldn't go all night without messing in there kennels, it was horrible. I don't know if u have started the heart worms meds yet.

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | To firm up his stools, try giving him a teaspoon or canned pumpkin. Not pumpkin pie filling...pure pumpkin, no sugar added. Also if you are free feeding he will go quite often, until he has control over his bowels. Poor baby, I hope this helps.

| I read somewhere here lamb is hard to digest for dogs. Mine was also on eukanuba when i got her. I switched her to royal canin calm slowly..first 3/4 eukanuba 1/4 royal then a few days after 1/2 1/2 so on and so on.. |

| Did the vet do a fecal exam on the puppy? If so you may want to try it again. Sometimes it is hard to get enough of a sample from a puppy that has diarrhea. Try taking a fresh sample in for them to check. Since he has diarrhea right now I would be hesitant to change his food until he is over this issue. Even a slow change of diet can be harsh on a sick puppy's digestive system. Do you feel comfortable with this vet? I can't imagine a vet that let's a small puppy like that go that long with chronic diarrhea. |

| There is some underlying problem causing this. I'm not clear - did he have diarreah on the breeder's food and that's why you changed? Or did the diarreah come on after you changed? I would be taking him back to the vet - probably another one (but that's just my opinion). Your baby can dehydrate and go downhill fast with diarreah that long. You need to find the cause so don't keep changing foods. When and if you ever do change foods, do it gradually by mixing old and new. As mentioned above, to help with the symptom (not the cause), try a bit of pure canned pumpkin. If it were me, I might actually just feed bland boiled white chicken and rice and supplement with Nutrical (no matter what..he's losing nutrients). Also, substitute his water with pedialyte (clear, unflavored) until this clears up. Keeping him in my prayers.

| Same happened with my little guy and it turned out to be the lamb. We switched him and it cleared right up. Lamb is very hard on dogs and not all can handle it, specially small dogs. |

| Did they check for cocidia? That will cause loose stools. Also you might try boiled chicken breast and plain white rice for a few days along with the pumpkin and see if it will get his tummy settled. OOps thats what I get for not reading all the posts lol. What Mandiesmom said.

| The vet did do a fecal exam, and they said it came back fine. The breeder said he did have loose stools most of the time also....? The medicine he's on now is for cocedia, just incase he does have it and the test didn't pick it up. He hasn't had any treats or anything just his food. I know this can't be normal. And in the poop it sometimes has a clear gel look to it... I've thought about going to another vet, but this vet has been very good with my other Yorkie so far. I read in another thread about IBS and I saw where some other yorkies have been prescribe a certain medicine, I've thought about asking his vet about that. I'm just not sure what to do, but I feel sorry for him |

YT 3000 Club Member | lamb can be hard on some dogs, chester cant have it now he gets diarrhea, how long was he like this at the breeder and did all the dogs have it. Its best to keep them on the same food for a bit and then do a slow change over but sound like he is having problems already. I would make sure hs stays hydrated and keep some nutrical on hand in case he gets low blood sugar, I would probably do bland food, what did the vet say |

| The breeder said his sisters sometimes has loose stools. He gets nutrical every day, and also plain yogurt. He drinks a good bit and he's very very active so it's not like he's just laying around. Also, he hasn't thrown up once. I've tried mixing his food with plain rice, he wouldn't touch it. |
