| OMG, my dog is NOT normal!!! Dexter is DRIVING ME INSANE today!!!!! He is smallish at 7lbs and he cannot always jump on the couch bc the floors are slippery. So today he's up, he's down, he's up, he's down, every time me having to pick him up. Im trying to work. Then he's up but he won't settle down. He's whining, crying, staring at me, shaking like a leaf. All because he wants to go under the blanket. I let him under and he's quiet until he hears a noise somewhere, then he's out, down, barking, then whining to come up, whining to go under, shaking... Im going crazy! This is not normal!!! My dog is soooooo needy honestly. I created a monster!!! I love him to pieces but WOW!!!! He's A LOT of work almost ALL the time!!!!

| I have stairs. He won't use them. He whines and cries to be picked up. This is ok if he did it once and settled down.. but no, he finally settles, hears a noise and runs out barking, only to repeat the process. Mind you, this going on at least 7x a hour!!! Makes it very hard to work. I need to cut down on the hugs and kisses! LOL Ive created 2 very needy monsters! LOL

| I understand. I have the cable guy here working on the internet and Huey has barked for 3 hours. He will finally stop, then the tech comes back in & he starts all over again. I have 3 leashes tethered together so he can get around the main part of the house but not out the door. He has wrapped aound all the furniture, my legs & the technician legs. He has to be right in the middle of whatever is happening at all times.

| I can totally relate! Georgie doesn't use the stairs either and has an aversion to the hardwood floors so we have to pick him up and carry him from the carpet at the bottom step to the area rug in the living room. He will sit there and whine, shake and bark. I work from home 3 days a week and sometimes I want to go into the office! I love my monster too but he drives me batty sometimes.

YT 2000 Club Member | Oh my, take a deep breath......! Have you tried getting a little kids couch for them to lay on on the floor? Maybe they would like it with some of their blankets and toys to snuggle down. Just a thought........

| Could he have eaten a human pill or something and he's kind of drunk or amped? You might check his vitals and pupils, etc. I always worry with dogs around if someone in the house might have dropped a pill or something unbeknown to them and the dog found it.

| Yes exactly! I love my little guys to pieces and I spoil them rotten, they want for nothing, esp when it comes to love and affection. But sometimes (ok, a lot of the time) they are overwhelming with their neediness. I try to sit down and before I even am sitting they are both on my lap. I can't ever move my legs, I always have to have a blanket on me, even if I'm hot bc they want to be under and on top of me, and they are relentless. They don't stop until I give in. I mean HOURS of this sometimes. Yesterday we had to clean and regrout the kitchen floor, and then seal it. This took maybe 3 hours non-stop. I had to put them in the living room which meant they could see me but could not get to me. It was 3 hours of "Dexter, stop whining" ... "Dexter... shush!" LOL it's just crazy!

| I have one so needy that she stands looking through the gate into my bedroom all night, just waiting for me to get up, and acts like she hasn't seen me forever

| Haha, this sounds a lot like Couver. He can jump up/down from the couch, but if he cannot get to me... He whiiiiines. If I go into the bathroom and close the door, oh I hear about it! lol. I'm not allowed out of his sight... I think it's a yorkie thing I also don't get to sit on the couch without two dogs on my lap and legs. I guess I'm used to it... Have you tried a ramp?

| We have huge throw pillows and if they are on the floor he'll sometimes use them to get up. Ive been doing that more and more, but some days he just wants me to pick him up over and over again. Get this though.... when Im not here and hubby is, Dex jumped up and down from the couch all day long! Nice huh? It's totally me hes being a baby to. I think I am just short on patience today. Usually most of the time he is needy and I just cater to him without even thinking about it. Today I guess Im just trying to get too much stuff done and hes not helping following me and whining.

| How about the up and down in the middle of the night while you are sleeping. Brandi goes potty in the middle of the night....fine I get that. But someone please tell me why she does the whole wack-a-mole routine until I wake up to pick her up back to bed even though she has steps?????? All I see is this little head bobbing up and down and her growling to wake me up. Sometimes I just ignore her until I finally give in and lift her back into bed. And she does this on average twice a night. Once to go potty and once to go get some water. |
