| Depends on how old the puppy is. They grow very rapidly from birth to 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, it would be somewhat unusual to gain several ounces in a week.

YT 2000 Club Member | Between 3-6 months, Teeka gained 2-3 ozs. a week. I don't know if this is the norm...... Their growth may begin to slow around 6 months. That is my experience, anyway! Possibly your puppy is having a big growth spurt! How old is it?

Max went from 3 pounds to 6 pounds at 6 months. He could have gained an average of 3 ounces a week. Sorry if I caused alarm above.

| How much does she weigh, and what have you been using to weigh her? Sometimes if different scales are used, you will get different numbers, especially when you measuring ounces. Or a scale is off.

| I don't have any experience with tiny Yorkies, so I don't know if this would be a typical growth spurt. Yorkies are full of surprises. As long as she checks out okay with your vet, I wouldn't worry. I would see how she progresses in the next couple of weeks.

| I use food scales but they can be off a few ounces depending on how much they move on them etc. I can pick them up sit them down and it will change and ounce or two.

| I re-read and see she was 10 weeks. I would say normal for 10 -12 week growth period.

| I think whatever she gains at this age is "normal" for her. Each one is different and I would much rather see healthy gains like this than no gains. As long as she is healthy, she is fine with her gaining. P.S. Don't worry about overfeeding if you are scared that is making her gain...there truly is no such thing as overfeeding a puppy. They need so much because they are growing and super energetic. (just make sure you feed healthy..not high fat..and she'll be fine)

| Remember too, there could be a significant difference between your vet's scale and the one you are using. When I go to the dr. their scale always weighs me more. I try to tell them their scale is off but they just don't listen. LOL
