YorkieTalk Newbie! | Hi Everyone!!! Hey everybody! My name is Lauren and I'm 20 years old. I am new to this site but I am so excited that I happened to come across it. I got my very first Yorkie on 9 months ago. I had recently moved out on my own and since I had always grown up with inside dogs my condo just didn't feel like "home" without a four-legged companion! I did my research and knew without a doubt that a yorkie was the perfect match for me. After searching for reputable breeders (and getting a loan from my grandaddy lol) I went to pick out my puppy from a wonderful lady in Monroe North Carolina. I was intending to get one that wouldn't be ready to go home with me until July, but when I got there the breeder mentioned that she had a little girl that was 8 weeks old and was already supposed to be picked up but the later never showed. (She had a deposit down on her and everything) She asked if I would like to see her so I would have an idea of what my baby would look like in a few more weeks. The second she brought her out I instantly knew that she had to be mine. I held her and told the lady that I didn't even need to see anything else. I knew I had met my perfect match. I fell in love with her that very moment. Exactly one week later I went back and brought her home with me. Its safe to say that that was most definitely one of the best days of my life. I had tons of names picked out and "Libby" was actually never one of them. But when I looked at her, that name just came to mind. It fit her perfectly. Her full name is Elizabeth Blanche (Blanche after our favorite Golden Girl!) but she goes by Libby most of the time. She was the tinest little thing but so full of life and personality. I truely felt like we clicked immediately. We were a team. It was us against the world from the very beginning. Anywhere I went, she was right there with me. I bought her tons of cute clothes and went to little girl boutiques to get her big bows to wear in her hair. She was the cutest little thing. I remember the first day her ears stood up. And the first time I heard her little bark. Once I spent the entire day teaching her how to make her way up and down the stairs. Her legs were so little but she was so determined to get up to where I was that she did it and I really could tell that she was proud of herself.... then she wanted to show everyone that came over what she had learned to do! I loved watching her hop around like a bunny rabbit all the time. Everything she did was adorable to me. Everyone in my life fell in love with her. We spent the summer going places and I loved visiting old friends or family members that I don't see often just so I could introduce them to her. We became inseperable. We ended up moving back in with my parents and at first my dad was a little mad about me bringing a new dog back to live with us... but before I knew it she became his little buddy. He would try to be sneaky about it at first but I would walk into the living room and find her curled up in his arms and he'd be rubbing her head. She melted his heart, but of course that didn't surprise me. Libby will be a year old on March the 30th and we are planning her a big birthday party. She has brought more joy to me than I could have ever imagined. She's such a spunky little thing with a mind all of her own, but at the same time she is the sweetest most cuddly little angel in the world. I don't think I could love her any more than I do. She's like my shadow.. constantly following me everywhere, even to the bathroom! She is a friendly little girl who is great with other dogs and never meets a stranger. She wants to be everybody's friend! Her eyes have so much expression that sometimes I forget that she's actually a dog lol It's like Any day now I expect for her to open up her mouth and have a conversation with me haha. I love snuggleing up with her everynight.. she sleeps like a litte baby and puts her arms around me. Or sometimes ill just hold her hand and she doesn't mind a bit. She really is so very sweet natured and loving. She is so precious and I never knew I could love a dog this much. She is curled up in my lap right now actually, making it diffucult to type but I don't have the heart to move her! lol I want to become a part of this site because I know that all of you could go on and on about your special yorkies like I just did because yall know what its like. I would love to hear all about yall and any advice yall could give me would be great!! If anyone on here is from my area (Florence SC) I would love to get together and let our yorkies play!! Thanks for reading, yall! |

| Welcome to YT! You are definitely in the right place. We just love Yorkies and all have wonderful stories to tell. I would suggest that you take a look at the "libraries" toward the top of the page and go through each one learning as much as you can. You can always ask questions in the regular list of forums and there are a lot of great people here who will be happy to share with you their knowledge and experience. It's truly a great place to be. Again, welcome and do...please post pictures. We love pictures!!
