| Baxters new name Houdini I thought I'd let everyone know how Baxters first day home alone when I went back to work went! I started out last week when I had a few days off leaving him for a couple of hours, then 3 hours, then 4 hours. Almost every time he'd meet me at the front door. He was climbing the baby gate. So I attached cardboard to it using zip ties. So I thought ok, that should fix that. Along the edge was maybe an inch where the cardboard didn't butt up all the way. That lil stinker figured out he could climb that little bitty section. So I got a bigger piece of cardboard & fixed that. So I thought ok, that should fix that! WRONG! I put him in the kitchen after I fixed it & went to my bedroom, because I didn't want to leave him until I knew he couldn't get out & have full run of the house. He stayed in there for a couple of hours, crying the entire time, but he didn't get out. So I felt confident that I finally fixed it. Went to work the next day & made arrangements for my daughter to come over & let him out & love on him. When she arrived, guess who met her at the front door? I still haven't figured out how he managed it. This is a tall baby gate, probably 3 1/2 feet tall. It now has solid cardboard with no spaces for him to use the netting for a ladder. He had not chewed the cardboard. He had to somehow manage to climb the cardboard. I am afraid he is going to hurt himself. I also think I need to put him through agility training. At 11 weeks he already can get up & off the furniture. I don't think an x-pen will work as he will climb out. I guess I'm going to have to crate him. My daughter is in love with him & has been puppy sitting when I go to work. But I can't expect her to do that forever. My goal is to get him older before he's crated all day. How many of you crate? For how long? At what age? I also am not getting anywhere with his seperation anxiety! I am reporting the pic of him climbing out for those who didn't see it before!

| I bought the medium richell dog pen for my girl. It has room for a bed and a sep room for potty. The great thing is its expandable (really long) and it has an available wire top. I got mine on wayfair.com (10% off) its not cheap but its really well made and nice looking. It will give her plenty of room during the day! |
