| My New Baby Baxter Hello! I am new here! I just became the proud owner of a 10 week old male Yorkie named Baxter. I am learning my way around here. I will try and figure out how to post pictures next. As I do have questions about my Yorkie appearance. I got Baxter from a home breeder! Not a puppy mill at all. The mother was there and saw her in person. I did see pictures of the dad. The whole litter was your normal, typical looking Yorkie. They all had soft curly, longer fur. Baxter has shorter hair, still soft, but has some more courser hairs that stick out. The puppies were hand raised in the home. I really loved the "look" of all the other puppies, but fell in love immediately with Baxter. Is this normal to have a shorter haired one in the whole litter? I've read that sometimes it takes longer for the coats to grow out on some. It doesn't really matter to me at this point, because he is simply adorable and I have already formed a deep attachment to this little guy. But I do have to admit that I was a little disappointed that the one that took to me & that I took to him, did not have the appearance I had always hoped for. I am not ever going to breed him, so that's not an issue for me at all. Just curious as to why he looked different. There was another little male that looked alot like him too. The girls were very good looking puppies. Just curious. I will try and figure out how to post pictures so people can see him & tell me what they think. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | WELCOME and CONGRATS on your new baby ! Can't wait to see piccies. On the fur question, is he the runt? If he's the runt, it may just be that he is developmentally a stage behind his siblings. Do the adults have nice coats? If yes, that is hopefully a good indicator.

| My Abby had a very short coat compared to her sibs. The hair on her ears/nose was so short even the vet questioned her akc papers. I also picked her because of her sweet , laid back personality not her looks. She was the 2nd smallest of 5 pups and was a little underfed- always getting kicked to the side by the big sisters. Her parents were there and had nice coats and looks so I took the chance, she turned out beautifully- at 18 months her hair is so silky she has never had a knot and really wouldn't need to be brushed very often. |

YT 2000 Club Member | My JoJo looks different than my Spud. JoJo looks more like a silkie with the long straight fur . I thought he has some Biewer in him. He kinda looks like that. Not a typical looking Yorkie but very lovable and sweet. Husband calls him a homewrecker because he does have some bad behaviors. Still marking territory and fighting with Spud. Ripping towels down and barking at the birds. All toys go in his water and under the couch. But I love him and no matter what, Yorkies are the best and JoJo is a keeper! Just like Baxter! |

| Hello again! To answer some of the questions asked. Baxter was not the runt. One of his sisters was, who is going to be bigger than him. I have a feeling with his laid back nature, that he stepped aside to let his siblings have at the food. I have to sit down beside him for him to eat. He follows me everywhere. If I walk away, so does he. I have been trying to figure out the picture posting. All of my photos are taken on an iphone. When I attach them they are sideways. I need to do a little more reading on how to post pictures. Any tips would be appreciated. I tried the mobile app, but didn't see where you could post a picture. I just can't get over how sweet this little boy is. I definately made a good pick of the litter. Like I said previously I went with a picture in mind of what I wanted in a YT, & he is not what I had in mind, but I couldn't help falling in love with him. I am also looking for suggestions on what is best for him next week when I return to week. I took a couple of days off to have some time to spend with him before leaving him home alone. I am going to purchase a baby gate to put up in the kitchen door. I am also working at "potty pad" training. He has pottied several times (still working on pooping). My daughter has offered to puppy sit while I am at work. Just curious of what people feel about small room vs crate. I do have a small crate for him to go in even when he is in the kitchen area. I know I may hear I am making a mistake but I've been letting him sleep with me. The last 2 nights he has laid right beside me ALL night, & pottied on the pad immediately when I sat him on it. I just feel so bad that if I have to confine him during the day I do not want to turn around & confine at night too. Suggestions/Advice of what you do with your Yorkie while at work. Sorry so long, but being a new mommy to a Yorkie I am yearning to learn everything I can about them. |

| Welcome to YT and Congrats on your new baby, Baxter!! I can't help with posting pics from an Iphone but many here can help. Maybe send a PM (private message) to Nancy1999. She knows how to do a lot of the technical stuff on here.

| Baxters Picture (I think) Hopefully this attachment of Baxter works. Let me know if any of you had a short haired Yorkie as he is, that grew out nice later. Thank You! Baxters mom! |
