| Anyone takes their yorkie running? I know this is not a running dog, but does anyone take their dog running for short distances? Dex is 3 months old and definitely too little for that, although we do run a little bit with him. When we bought him the breeder said we can take him running for a mile or so long runs when he grows up. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | We uses to take Wylie running with us when he was younger...probably about 20mins-1/2 hour - and omg, he LOVED it. He just had a blast. I know there are other folks on here who take their yorkies running too. As long as their knees check out okay, they should do great. I'd probably work them up to your goal time slowly, though.

| When I take Tonak for his walk... He runs! And it started to be at a speed where I would have to jog beside him, but now I have to full out run! He slows only to turn his head and make sure I am still there! He is only on a 6ft leash, so I have no choice! He is not running after anything, or chasing anything, he just loves running!! This started from he was 4.5 months. (we started regular walks at 4 months after all his shots) he goes for anywhere between 20 - 40 min at a time. The length of time will depend on whether he goes to sleep as soon as we get home, or if he plays for 10 min first! |

| I used to take Peanut running, I would roller-blade and he would run next to me. When he got tired I would carry him LOL He loved the ride! Now he is LP, so we can't enjoy that anymore- Just long walks!

YT 1000 Club Member | You can not start any Dog out too young, or too old ! IF you're interested in their health, then, let them set the pace. When they're very young or old, run as far as they want, then walk for a while, usually back toward the house. But, after they reach 9 months to a year, then you can push them some. Trust me, they can take it, and it profoundly effects their physical status in a positive direction, and the stamina you are creating, will hang with them the rest of their lives. That approach is somewhat like Progressive Resistance Exercising.

My Female Becca and Male Puppy Ichabod get tired quicker than My Male Sneakers. I just do a figure 8 on the route, drop Becca and Ickey off, and continue with Sneakers. This way everybody gets good exercise. It's funny though, Becca and Ickey don't like to be left behind, but, one must make those evaluations. Running together like that, is a very powerful tool promoting Pack cohesiveness.

| I take mine, but not very often. He loves it! I let him set the pace, which is a comfortable trot for him, and a slow jog for me. When he gets tired, I carry him. It's not often though, he'd much rather be on the ground exploring everything.

| My teddy loves to go for fast walks/jogs. He is only 3lbs and it amazes me how fast his little legs go. I go at a easy jog and it is for 1-3 miles. I don't take him on my long runs |
