Default Help..Scooter won't stop playing

Scooter and I usually spend around 30 min or so a day playing. Throwing his Wubba or Frisbee and he loves it. Trouble is that he never wants to stop. He even brings them to bed and when I'm lying there watching tv or reading he is at my feet whimpering or barking wanting to play. When I stop throwing to him in the yard I say "done" and walk away and he's ok but "done" doesn't do it in the house. He's relentless. If he wasn't being such a pest I'd think he was sooo cute but.......he's driving me crazy. Anyone else have this problem?

30 minutes of play time out of a day is not very long. I spend hours interacting with mine.by the time I want to epwatch tv or read...they are tired.

Teeth Puppy Eyes

I'm going to guess that Scooter looks up at you with thise big beautiful eyes and sometimes you give in. That's called intermittent reinforcement and only increases the begging behavior. No matter how cute they look, you need to mean no when you say no. Just like with children

LOL Lola is the same way, she just turned 2 in Dec and is a toy addict. MY DH says enjoy it while we can. She is so cute though that we sort of love her toy obsession no matter where I am she shows up with a squeaky toy, she will drop it on my foot while I am on the toilet, she will put it on the vacuum, on the open door of the dishwasher, she will tuck in a cupboard. If workman come to the house she will put in in their toolbox, or in a friends purse. She especially loves new toys, I brought home a new one two days ago and it has hardly been out of her mouth. She gets exhausted and starts huffing and puffing from squeaking and squeaking it, LOL she even takes it outside to potty. She has a keen sense of smell so I have to put the toy somewhere where I can close the closet and the door. All the toys do get put away before bed time. I finally had to take away the pet stairs to the bed because she started to climb down in the middle of the night to look for a toy. I also can not have toy box on the floor because all toys come out at once and then she sits in the box squeaking whatever is left. She also hides her toys or puts them in places where she can not retrieve them, she will drop them in a laundry basket or trash can, then can not reach it and starts wanting my help. she will drop them behind a couch or a day bead or underneath something and then wants it back immediately. Sometimes it is a pain but mostly we think it is cute, I also feed her addiction, she likes cheap rubbery type toys and I will often buy her a bunch at once from the dollar store or Wallmart and dump the bag on the floor. Oh my all hell breaks loose and she starts tearing into everything. Other than that she is a really good girl, 100% house broken and very little barking so we really let her be toy crazy, I think we get as much of a kick out of it as she does. So many of my friends have yorkies that will not play so try to enjoy it as much as you can.

Maybe taking him for a walk a day would help.

Huey also has a toy addiction. No matter what you are doing, he will bring a toy & "whomp" me in the foot with it, then grab it & run out of reach if you reach to grab it to throw. (The bathroom is one of his favorite places for this...) One game we play is "bring the correct toy". He knows the names of each of his toys-raccoon, lobster, squirrel, squeeky-ball, frog, etc. I will dump all the toys together in his toybox, go out of the room & tell him which toy to bring. If he brings the right one, he gets a treat. He is right 75% of the time. I will hear him digging through his toybox to get the right one. When he gets new toys, we just replace existing ones. We try not to add new ones to the mix, partly to avoid confusion, but partly because he has way too many already. If he has several strewn around the room, be will bring the right one then, too. It is play but I think it is also mental stimulation. Even though he doesn't get new different toys, he thinks anything fuzzy belongs to him, slippers especially. Another favorite game is "bring me my shoe" which he hears after he has snatched my slipper off my foot & gone running away with it. He does not want to quit playing, either, especially when treats have been involved. (Little begger...) He is so much fun, though...

How old is your little one? Wallee is 10 months and he needs at least one or two walks a day and he still plays toys like that inside for at least 2 hours a day. Takes a lot to burn off all the energy these little bundles have..lol

Enjoy your toy playing addict. Macy has never been interested in a toy, ball or playing. She loves walks so when the weather is decent we walk twice a day. When the weather is not so good she walks on a treadmill. The only play she likes is when I chase her and act like I'm trying to touch her butt.

In a way I am kind of envious of you guys. Brandi does not play with toys at all. I've bought her many and all she does is stare at them. I'm am thinking she just doesn't know how to play. I'm guessing it's the result of her being used for breeding.

She will play tag with me and she loves hide and seek but that's about it. Any suggestions on what I can get her to start playing with toys would be great. I saw that someone had a little ball where you could put treats in it which I'm sure she would play with but I haven't been able to find one.

I saw the little treat ball at Wallmart of all places yesterday. You should be able to get one at any pet store though. Wallee eats all his kibble from one. That's sad that she doesn't know how to play. Poor baby robbed of her puppyhood. Will she play with any kind of tug toy? Amazed she doesn't instinctively respond to squeekers.

Thanks, I'll check walmart online and see if I can find it. She won't play with any toy. I have toys with squeakers, without squeakers, nothing works. When her boyfriend Scooter (my friend's male yorkie) comes over, he plays with them and I was hoping she would start playing but she didn't. So now I keep the toys in a basket for Scooter whenever he comes over. He starts looking for toys as soon as he is in the house as if he lives there.

Jada is exactly the same way!! She was 2 1/2 when we adopted her. It took almost a year and finally I brought in another toy. A yellow loofah dog and she grabbed him up and started running for me to chase her. Still to this day she will only play with yellow dog and only for a few minutes.
She is very food motivated though and loves treat toys. I would try one of those. My good friend Lisa sent Jada a treat toy for Christmas and she is bonkers for it..they sell them at Amazon and other pet stores I am sure

My Lil is the same as Lola. But she just destroys them... starts with nose, ears, tail until they are left in shambles does anyone elses do this?

Is there a cetain guide in buying them - I heard not to buy the ones made in China but I would say 98% of them are (and I stay away from ones that have little plastic parts that can be swallowed).

My older one just has one toy her "bunny" which she has had for about six years. I can't get rid of it though, its her partner she feels the need to hump it constantly and thanks to my Lil one it only has its head left with stuffing...
