| The Countdown Is Near! This year has not been so good for me. However, I am taking it all in stride and I know that my current situation is not the end-all (lost my job). I decided that now was the perfect time to get a dog to help me keep my spirits up, give me something to focus on, and keep me on a routine. My former crazy schedule of working full-time and consistent overtime plus, going to school full-time and a half (I go to two universities) has dramatically changed now. As someone who has always work and always been involved in multiple projects, there is a sense of loss with my new schedule. I only go to school and one of my schools is completely online (full-time). The other I will finish in a few months (part-time). Before, my schedule left no room for much of anything. Especially, properly caring for a puppy. I now have the ability to be home all day and two days out the week I also go to school for a few hours about 10 minutes away. I am really excited that I now have the ability to bring a furbaby into my life. I just ordered the last of the supplies I need for him (mostly toys and other odds and ends). I enjoy opening the the packages and looking at his little bed, clothes, and toys. I'm wondering if I will do everything right and re-read the loads of books I have purchased and searching through the forums. I'm constantly re-assuring myself that I can do this and he is going to be so lucky to have someone so dedicated to him and his well-being, even before he was created. I am just so happy right now because this is something I have wanted for a loooong time and it is finally coming to pass. Is this what it's like for mothers to be? It seems that I could not be getting him at a better time with graduation around the corner and the freedom to lay the foundation before starting my career. It's almost as if I knew I was getting him soon because when I lost my job the first thing I thought was like 'yay I can finally get my dog'. What I didn't expect was to find THEE dog so soon. I have saved as much of every paycheck I could, with the thoughts I would relocate, buy a car, and house. Plans changed, I will bring my furbaby home in about 3 weeks. I can't take it, I have never wanted anything more than a dog. I can't wait for my sidekick.

| Thanks Kendra... it certainly will. I've seen some of these crash out pics and they are so adorable that way. When I get him it will not seem like I waited so long.

| I'm so happy that your dream is finally coming true. You will not be disappointed. These babies bring so much love and laughter to our lives. The feeling of love and commitment you will feel because of a little one needing you to love, protect, and care for him/her is indescribable. I am forever changed because of the love of Katie and all of my Rainbow Bridge babies. Are you traveling far to get your baby? I live on Long Island too and wound up getting Katie outside of Toronto, Canada.

| What part of Long Island? I am in Nassau. I am traveling by plane to get him. Not quite Canada, but pretty darn close. I will be flying there and back. That way I can stop at the breeders etc. I am going to be wiped that first day. So, I hope to be in the swing of things shortly after. I am taking a round trip flight to cut down on expenses.

| You will do fine. Some stuff you have to live through to learn anyway. Just make sure you have enough money for all the puppy visits and emergency's. You can read a million books and still not be prepared for these little guys they honestly are unlike any dog I have ever had and don't seem to follow any of the should be like this rules lol. We are here for you for all the good, bad, ugly, odd and stinky things

| Thank you so much everyone. I am so happy I found this site well in advance. The amount I have learned these past years is invaluable. This forum is part of the reason I feel so confident. I think its natural for anyone to worry if their doing everything right. I haven't had a dog in 7 years.
