| Help...Need Sleep??? I started with Harley in our bedroom in a crate until we found out my boyfriend is allergic to dogs His doctor and our vet recommended not to have him in the bedroom. Sooo off to the living room we went. He was ok as long as I would lie on the couch and reassure him I was there until he fell asleep. He started to pee pee his bed and crying!!! in the crate. Crying to the extent, to where I could not calm him down. Another YT member told me not to crate him, he is too young, 11weeks and have a reverse affect on him. I tried to put him in his Xpen to sleep on his bed, and he will cry as well. He throws a fit! I put him on the couch with me, and he is content(go figure) it breaks my heart to hear him I cant sleep on the couch every night Does everyone's little one sleep w/them? Any suggestion? Should I just let him cry until he falls asleep? what to do??? |

| Are you sure your boyfriend is allergic to the dog? Yorkies usually are not big allergy causers and yours is very young. Did he have allergy testing? You must have gotten your puppy at a young age if he is only 11 weeks now. Young puppies do need something to keep them warm. Usually they are still cuddling with their mom and litter mates at that age. That is why he is better with you holding him. If you keep him in the crate he needs something to keep him warm and he will need to be let out often to go potty. They have no control at that age and will pee in the crate if not let out in time. |

Maybe if it actually IS the baby your bf is having an allergic reaction to, which is NOT a common event with Yorkies, perhaps some medication for bf will help with his allergy? The baby is still very young and wants him littermates and his mommie, with whom he would be snuggling with if he was still with them. So, now YOU are mommie....he wants to snuggle with you! The warm heart beat snuggle toy may work...I put one of those rice things that you heat in the microwave and wrap around your neck for sore neck....I heat it, cover it with a flannel pj top of mine, curve it around in a U shape, and the babies will all snuggle right up in there (this is the babies that I have had to hand rear and they sleep in an incubator)....Good luck with this quandry....Rather than leave that baby alone, in another room, I would medicate bf if it was me!!!!!!! |

| Yes, we are positive. After we got our baby, his allergies got worse, he had blood work done. We both teased about the Dr calling back and telling us he was allergic to Harley! Low and behold, a week later he called back and told us the only thing we didnt want to hear!!! Really... allergic to dogs???? Great!!! I didn't think u could have an allergic reaction to Yorkies |

Thats sad tho, it will be hard for you guys. What if you keep his hair real short and regular baths?? I knew a lady with a boxer that she gave a bath with a shampoo called allergroom once a week and this helped her sooo much! | |

| Well, bottom line is, you will either need to listen to the whining and know that eventually Harley will fall asleep. Getting something to cuddle with and that heart beat doll is a great idea! OR, you're going to need to sleep in the same room with Harley everynight. Which, in my experience, will just lead to Harley training YOU and deciding he could cry and whine even then and eventually you'll get him out to sleep with you. OR, you could sleep in the same room with Harley...with Harley on the couch. I'm thinking you need to be able to stay in bed with the BF. So, xpen (simply because 11 weeks is way too young to expect Harley to be able to hold his pee and poo all night..this way he can go to a pad in the pen) Harley in another room and ear plugs for you. It will KILL you and you will eventually get up and say, "I can't let him cry anymore. I have to go get him." When you do that....stop. I say this because I did this with Mandie. She now knows she owns me and it all started the 2nd night she trained me lol.

| I know exactly what you mean. I have three kiddos. I knew how to handle them. LOl This liitle one seems to have me wrapped around his little paws. I can't seem to put him down! I did get him @ 9weeks. I guess thats a young age for a Yorkie? This is our family's first puppy. I didn't know that was too young for them to be taken from mommy. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Well I got to say I am allergic to cats. . . I had 4 ! . . What we are allergic to is actually the animal dander. There is a couple of things you can do. First keep up on dusting and vacuuming in that order. Give a couple hours in between the two to gt everything up as much as possible. Keep one room a "clean room", no animals. (That one for me failed cat locked me in the room. Story for another time) and wash and brush them. ( Yes I washed my cats) that will help with some of the allergins. I hope this helps. It helps for me

| My husband is allergic to cats. Years ago, a stray cat chose us to live with. My husband said no and it was him or the cat. 17 years later after she passed away and over 10 years of allergy shots for my husband later, I was told not to get another cat... I won't, but SHE picked us... What could I do? Anyway, I guess the point I was trying to make is hopefully, your BF might go to the allergist. My husband said it definitely helped him, even with other cats, but mostly the one in our family. He still has benefits from those shots over 12 years later. |
