| Frusterated and needing to vent... So I was talking to a male co worker this morning who told me that he had gotten his fiance a new yorkie puppy for Christmas..The little one weighs a little over a pound he said. (did not tell me how old) I started telling him about having nutrical on hand and why and feeding every 3 hrs when they are that small and gave him this website to get information on the breed. He cut me off and said, "Well I guess we will just see, because at my house we treat our animals as pets, not children"...They have 6 children all under the age of 8...Im afraid this little one doesnt stand a chance.... |

| I wish I could have just 5 minutes alone with that breeder who sold that poor puppy to that family of apparently uncaring and certainly inexperienced Yorkie owners with all those babies. Just 5 minutes. Why don't you try to find out the breeder's name and city, state? I know we here would love a heads-up about that person's operation.

| It be nice if you could actually talk to this co-worker's wife. She may have been a little more receptive to the info..being a mom and all.

| None taken...he has never been my favorite person, now he is about as low on the totem pole as you can get...I told him about costs of vet care since my Prissy had such a sensitive stomach when she was that little...he told me I was crazy...I wanted to smack him in the head |

| He could be treating that dog as a dead pet at his house if he doesn't try to learn more about a tiny, extremely frail dog.

| Maybe you could ask him who her breeder was and where she or he lives? Oh, I hope you do get that little one! That would be wonderful and such a saner outcome for her.

I think this is a WONDERFUL idea..... Your co worker does not treat their pets like kids.....why in the world would someone that wants "a dog" opt for a breed like a Yorkie? They are high maintainance and demand to be part of the family, not just "the dog"....kind of like buying a "Lambo" when all you want is to go 25 mph......no one is getting the best from either object. But on to the breeder.....we could possibly embarrass the heck out of them...but that pweson could care less about us, our adoration for our babies, especially our Yorkies,.....they got their money for that commodity, if it survives a team of kids, great!! If it doesnt, well, that is a potential return customer!!! | |

I am wondering if 5 WHOLE minutes alone would be needed...LOL This is likely the sort of thing statistics and headlines are made of...and why rescues, animal control, the ASPCA/Humane Society, etc., exist in the first place, sadly.

| Well, a dog has to be potty trained just like a "kid." They need shots just like children do. They have to be bathed and fed....just like a child. So I suppose these people think that the puppy is going to do all that for it's self? Odds are they bought it at a pet store. I'm sure the puppy mills had plenty this Christmas season. |
