| Too early? I was trying to wait til 12 weeks to pick up Angelo so I could give him time wit his mom but the breeder said that he is 10 weeks and that 10-12 weeks is the perfect time to pick up a pup...is he bein honest or just trying to speed up a sale? Id never want to do anything wrong to my little man but I am anxious to get him. What should I do? |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | 10 weeks is a bit early, 12 weeks is best, but I know some breeders just want to get those pups out the door as fast as they can. from 10-12 weeks, mama dog teaches the pups puppy etiquette and puppy maners, also very important is bite inhibition, so is critical that mama gets a chance of teach puppy all that.. hugs, |

| I think you should wait the extra weeks. I got Zoë at 16 weeks. Potty training was a breeze and she plays great with my 2 other dogs. My daughter got Chester at 11 weeks, we are still working on potty training months later. He will play with Zoë but pretty much stays away from my other 2. Could also be a personality thing??? |

| Well ten weeks I dont think is way to early but if 2 more weeks is beneficial I dont see the harm in having the breeder hold the pup 2 more weeks but ultimately the decision is up to you

| I got Ziva at 11 weeks, if I had waited another week or so I think she would have had the potty down better, Her mother "spun" to indicate and Ziva was confused and spun afterwards! Abby I took at 10 1/2 weeks because the male was there marking all over and the pups were copying that. Also she was the smallest and not fighting for the food and always pushed away hungry. So- no help here, one was better earlier- one should have stayed longer... |

| If the breeder is ok with 12 weeks, then by all means go for 12 weeks. If not, see if they'll do 11 weeks and that extra week will be well worth it. |

This is a critical time for these babies. Not only are they learning sooo much from momma, they should be getting vaccinations from either the vet or the breeder....these babies are very fragile emotionally and physically during this time, with so much going on in their little lives.....weaning, adjusting to changing lfe stages, vaccinations, etc.....there is already a tragic post from someone above, that got their 9 week old baby, had it 4 days and it died. DO NOT LET THESE BREEDERS PUSH THESE BABIES OUT BEFORE 12 WEEKS OF AGE. these babies need as much positive in their corner as we can possibly give them.... | |

| UGHHHH...you know how you ask a question to hear a certain answer? I WANTED YOU ALL TO SAY 10 WEEKS WAS FINE!!!! I would never want to mess wit Angelo's chance or survival or his development so I guess I'll just suck it up and wait the extra ten weeks. Thanks YT!!! |

| Those weeks are nothing if they will give your little one an extra little chance. And they need every break you can give them.
