| Cinders has earned her name....again When we 1st got Cinders, it was August- the height of Ohio's grilling season. We couldn't keep her away from the ashes under the grill (wasn't being used at the time) so we called her Cinders. Well... tonight my DH dropped his cigarette. She was in the room with him. I hear him saying he dropped it, and he couldn't find it. I started to worry, cause he probaly dropped it in the lazy boy. Cinders seemed to be trying to help. He's shooing her away, so I call her to me. She starts running from me to him and back to me ( like 3 or 4 times). She finally stopped, and I saw her chewing on something. I grabbed at it, but she took off- it was his ciggy!! I don't know how she got it- or where the lit part went, but she had it and was very happy with it. I checked her, she didn't get singed or burnt. She did get a lecture though about being too young to steal daddy's cigarettes. He got a lecture too!

| Please be very careful with that. A friend of mine has a lab and she ate a couple of butts from the yard (shared with another family who smoked) and she had serious health problems.

| Scary! Glad she wasn't burned. She does live up to her name, huh? Maybe when she grows up, she'll be a firedog.

| Maybe... I was thinking she was trying to help him, but she helped a little TOO much!

| I'm watching her and making sure she doesn't get into ashtrays. She's too short to get to them atm, and i watch him and her close. He doesn't let her near the ashtrays or his pack, she hasn't had any other interest in them, just got that 1 when he dropped it. he found the ash too- right where he dropped it at. I think I should ground them from sitting in the lazy boy together.

| I'm glad I got it too! She was doing her best to give it to him, but then she decided to try to chew it!! Her fur hid most of it too! I'm glad I was paying attention to her and not DH who was looking for it-lol

| That has scared me for a long time. My hubby smokes in the basement and forgets to move the ashtray when he is done. Huey doesn't get into it much, but as I mentioned in a different thread, he gets things he shouldn't have so he can get a treat in trade. I think my reaction in the past has been strong enough that he knows that is a surefire way to get my attention. He chews on the butt until I get it away. I am so scared he is gonna get nicotine poisoning! I keep the basement door closed, but if it is raining, he has a place down there to potty. So far he hasnt had any adverse reaction, thank goodness.

| Honestly I'd be more concerned about him smoking around her and what it might do to her tiny little body I smoke too, but only outdoors. I would hate to be the cause of my family, including my doggies, of getting sick because of my idiocy Tell Cinders that smoking will give her wrinkles

LOL! I will we're working on him... me and her. He realized how fast she is when she got that ciggy and was running with it. She's usually with me, away from the smoke.
