| Yorkie Watch dog Anyone else's Yorkie drive them crazy barking at every ding or doorbell on tv? Goodness knows Wheel of Fortune better not come on the tv. it makes me laugh though when she hears something outside and keeps giving it a long low continuous growl, like she is going to rip it into tiny shreds. It had better be very afraid. What a little protector. When I take her out she has never barked. But boy, do those tv doorbells & dings set her off. Not always for the good!

| Dinky barks at knocks and doorbells on tv. He also barks at every dog he sees on tv, even those poor little rescue dogs. We try to tell him to be nice to the sad dogs, but he does not get it! |

| I don't think Gracie would protect me much, from people anyway. She gets so excited when she hears a vehicle outside that her whole body starts to wiggle. She does a high pitched whine until whoever it is gets to the door. Then she can't hold it back any longer and she may let out a yip! However, when she hears things going on out back in the night time I have a hunter on my hands The other night we heard something outside the bedroom window. Gracie started to growl and ran to the patio since the curtains were closed in the bedroom. It turned out to be a dear that had been eating out of the bird feeder. She wanted to go get it! At least it wasn't a skunk this time! |

| From inside the house, Coco barks at the same people she would lick to death if she were outside with them . Then when outside, if someone should pass her by without some acknowledgement, she'll look at me with a face that says "didn't they see me? They must not have seen me for surely they would have stopped and fussed over me. Let's catch up to them!" LOL |

| Ruby is the same...doorbell on tv..dogs cats on tv...a couple yips to say im protecting you...She also protects me from ghosts...on more then one occasion she has growled and "charged" after something under my dresser...gets scared runs out backwards and starts all over again...I watch her do this sometimes for 10-15 minutes and I never see a thing...I know I have no mice...cats would take care of them if I did...im really not sure what she sees! But she thinks she is going after something until she whimps out!!

| Yep Scooter does the same. I have 2 feral cats that I feed and although they have been coming to the front door for over 2 years Scooter still throws himself at the door (it's glass) whenever he sees the cats. They just sit there and look at him. I know they are saying to each other "look at that stupid dog". He also does that whenever anyone comes to the door. They all get a kick out of him but say they are glad he's not a Rottweiler. Anyway he's my tiny but very noisy watch dog.

| Brody and Mia do sometimes react to doorbells, etc. on TV and unknown sounds...like me accidentally and painfully whacking a knuckle on the coffee table, or the bed headboard at 2 am. They are set off sometimes by a cat jumping down off a chair, someone walking or bicycling by the house, or a cow on the other side of a fence. Brody is pretty intolerant of any kitty getting 'dibs' on Mommy's lap or even headed in my direction. Mia can be set off by the shadow of a breeze-blown blade of grass. I do not think your Yorkie's the only one capable of crazy making barking!

| Bailey doesn't bark unless the doorbell rings. Then he's all over it. Even I could ring the doorbell and he'd be all up in the window barking like a fool. He's a great watch dog. |

| Oh yeah, doorbell (real or tv) = Loony Lexie! Of course whenever DH walks in the room, she has a barking fit. But I think that possessiveness, not guarding. Once there were 6 bull elk in my yard and she went nuts charging them within 10 yards. Not nearly close enough to be in danger. Too much attitude!

| That's exactly what Heidi does too. People are always stopping to talk to her. When I take her to the park where there are a lot of serious walkers & runners, she'll just know someone getting close is going to come see her, and when they pass on by without even an acknowledgement, she'll turn around and look at me like, "Hey, what's the deal? I don't understand, didn't they see me?" She acts sad & disappinted. Makes me feel sorry for her. She does good at bringing the smiles though. Hardly anyone can pass by without smiling down at her. She acts like she's the Queen of the world out there.

And if a phone rings on tv, again he goes nuts and tries to draw our attention to 'it'.....but our phones don't make that old-fashioned ringing noise....they're funny little boogers.... Sally + Harry x | |
