| New Years Resolution Hello YT's, I've been lurking here for several months learning all I can about Yorkies. My New Year's Resolution is to convince my SO that we need a Yorkie! We both agree that we're ready for a dog, but we have major issues as to which breed, he would like something bigger. I'm convinced once we have a Yorkie in the house, his heart will melt and he'll forget all about a big dog. I've almost worn him down, but boy is it a slow process! Any suggestions and good luck charms would be greatly appreciated. |

| I'm just gonna cut and paste my exact answer to a thread I just posted to lol.. I believe Yorkies just have these magical powers. I haven't met one person (even tough husbands who demand a "big, manly dog") who don't fall completely in love once getting one single yorkie kiss

| Terri, I was just thinking of c/ping your response... HA HA. They do have magical powers though! Chad was pushed down by a large dog when he was very young and was terrified of dogs. Took a long time to convince getting a dog and he is in love with Zeus. He takes him into the store, Chipotle...no one says anything. Big ol' guy with a little 6lb Yorkie... And there are larger Yorkies. Some can get 15-20lbs.

| Check out some sites like on FB Harley the Biker dog if a littke yorkie can ride a hog and win over a big biker dude (and all his riding buddies) maybe he'll he the bennefit of a miniature giant. Tbh Derik my SO doesn't much prefer yorkies ours are 12 &19 pounds though so he likes them, if they were within standard I don't think he'd bother with them much, he doesn't dislike little dogs he just doesn't like the idea of being preoccupued with safety concerns over any dog under 10 pounds. Maybe getting an out of standard ir mix from rescue is an option? My Scoobers our largest is a Schnorkie a yorkie mini schnauzer hybrid we got as a puppy at the pound. Derik loves that he can ride his bike and Scoobers runs along side on his leash...of course it flips me out with anxiety though...I ordered bike helmets for the dogs to wear while riding in a basket... FYI Scoobers is just ovee 2 feet tall.

| Just going to be lazy and copy this reply too- LMAO!! Yorkies just have these magical powers. I haven't met one person (even tough husbands who demand a "big, manly dog") who don't fall completely in love once getting one single yorkie kiss My DH didn't want a yorkie, but I got him one. It took a few weeks, but she's definately a "daddy's girl". She sits on his shoulder in the Lazy Boy and watches football with him!!

| If Mandie dares to come sit by me and curl up while I'm watching tv...it takes about 15 minutes for DH to come along and say, "Why did you take her?" and then he proceeds to pick her up and lay her back down by him. LOL!

| Rosie was the first yorkie I got. It was a dog for my son. Then Mikki came along. I found her at a gas station and couldn't wait to hear from DH. So I just got her. And SURPRISED him! She wrapped him around both her little paws. DH always had big dogs but feel in love with Mikki because she was so little. Lol. My advice, just Get a yorkie. He WILL fall in love.

| She's not a Yorkie, but my brother found Daisy running around the streets in our neighborhood. She's a Chihuahua. Long story short, she stayed with my folks. She's my dad's little girl, LOL. All 3lbs of her... He's nuts for the breed now and for her!

| My husband who I would not classify a dog person, if you know what I mean, loves Copper. He will take him across the street to our little park to do "his business." My husband is a 6 ft guy (Athletic director and coach) with a 4 lb. yorkie in a cute handmade harness vest and leash. He will actually run with the dog when Copper takes off in a sprint then stops suddenly because he smells something. It is hilarious. Copper is attached to me, but when Charlie comes home...I say, "Daddy's home!!!" and Copper get excited runs around looking for a "gift" like a chew stick for him and then runs to him. Charlie loves it. It did not take Copper long to worm his way into my hubby's heart. Charlie is still not a dog person, but he does like it when Copper sits on his lap while he is watching sports. I even have a tshirt for Copper that says "Game watching t shirt." We have owned big dogs before, a German Shepherd and a Lab, but Copper is our favorite and well loved.

| I love all the answers! But, seriously, my DH is from Alaska and always had bigger dogs...sled teams, etc. Now, he doesn't think he ever wants anything but a Yorkie again.
