| I did and it worked out potty training 2 at the same time can be tough though and should be considered

| I understand how you feel. Having a tiny puppy can be a bit sad, when you think about your puppy not having a friend to play with. Even though you might want that for your dog, if you're giving your puppy enough play time, it should be fine. I have never liked bringing a new puppy into the house when I already had a very young puppy, waiting until the youngest puppy in the house is at least 6-9 month old. Not only that, there is the potential for the yorkies to bond to each other and not to you, and that can cause an exacerbation of "little dog" syndrome, because they might feel as though they have to look out for and protect each other, since it's them against the world. So, my answer would be were I you, I would wait until my dog was at least 6 months of age before bringing in a new puppy.

| We aren't ready to add a second pup yet, but after having our little guy for even this short time and falling madly in love with him, I can admit to having given a thought to getting another one! |

| I adopted 2 at the same time they were 2 years apart in age though. Many seem to manage it, and mostthe say it works out. personally I would never consider adding another until the first one is fully trained. I prefer the pup to take ques from the trained one on what to do when and why...makes training so much easier.

| I think a companion is a great idea...especially for one so young. I had kitties when 14 month old Brody needed a new 'good home' and came to live with me. He was fine with just the kitties, maybe because his 'older brother' at his previous home had weighed 95 lbs. and he was kept separated and alone in another room anyway...where at my house, he was a little smaller than most of the kitties. Then we puppy sat for Sunny (Shih Tzu), and after she went home again, Brody was so sad and forlorn he would just lie on the place on the floor where Sunny's kennel had sat. So, I started looking for a companion about the same size, age and temperment, and found Mia. We took Brody when we traveled to meet her. Mia is only 6 days older than Brody, but both were 17 months old when Mia came home to her new 'good home' and they are the very bestest of friends , and I sincerely believe they are happier together than either was alone. They play together, snuggle together, tease each other, and occasionally 'disagree' on whose toy, chewie, or Mommy it really is, but altercations are very few and super far between, and only last seconds anyway before they are kissy-facing each other again!

| We thouht about getting a companion for jasmin as well. Not sure if she will like it. We got her one of those battery operated toy dog and she was sooo jealous of it. I also rather spend all the money on her. She gets enough playtime from daddy during the day and night wit mommy. |

| Having 2 is great, but it also means twice the expense and work. Vet bills for potential unforeseen health problems are a big consideration. My boys enjoy the companionship, but they do not self-entertain. They still look to me to play constantly. Keep in mind that 2 is not necessarily a cure for separation anxiety, and 2 does not mean they will keep themselves entertained.

Thx...That was about to be my question. I haven't got my puppy yet but I am getting it next month when he turns 12 weeks. I wanted to get two but you all talk about how expensive vet bills, food, etc is so I would think that having two would be twice as expensive. I'm not sure how much Yorkie experience you have but I know that I have NONE so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to jump in with two...good luck to you tho. If you decide to do it, plz post and tell us how it goes...I am really curious. | |

| Thanks Thanks for all the advice, now that leads me to my next concern, the crying! We hop in the shower for 10 minutes and put her in the kitchen where we have gated it off and she has her bed and toys, food water etc and her piddle pad, and she cries and whimpers like she's dying...what do we do? We both have to go to work at some point and she will be alone for a few hours, and I can't stand the thought of her shaking and crying, scared and nervous etc. any thoughts? |

Keep practicing leaving her in a room alone for increasing periods of time: 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour. When you leave her, don't make a fuss. Use keywords that let her know when to expect you back. Dogs learn words fast. "I'll be back in a few minutes" or "I'll be back in a little while, be a good girl." When you return, many experts say not to make a big deal. I'm naughty and we have big greetings. Give your puppy a treat and tell her she is a good girl.

| Ok great advice ill definitely being this. So bottom line, don't fall for the nervous shaking, crying and yelping, right? Am I just a parent with separation anxiety? Please tell me it's ok to leave her to go to work and that although she will cry...she will be fine! I need some reassurance! |

| If you decide to get a second pup please get one from a better breeder who does what is best for the pups and keeps them with there mom until 12 weeks like they are supposed to.
