| Yorkies on Christmas day? Hello Everyone, Happy Holidays to all, I really hope you had a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2013. Poppy has had a wonderful Christmas. I'm having a few problems with my Mother in law, we are living with her at the moment and she does not like Poppy (((Scream in shock)))( HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE)... although she does not admit it and she sometimes says some nasty things about her, the annoying thing is she really is the most well behaved dog ever! I am very sensitive when it comes to Poppy which is silly really but I am, I treat her like I actually gave birth to her haha and anyone even mocking her I get upset and annoyed at, I'm sure some of you understand. Anyway for Christmas me and poppy went shopping!!! woohoo My mother in-law bought our cat a new collar for Christmas but got Poppy nothing which I know Poppy wont understand... but I hated that she got Poppy nothing because it hurt my feelings as she knows how much I love her! So yes anyway, me and Poppy went shopping and she got a new Bed and She got the Casey the cat one too. Poppy got a new Harness and a new Christmas bow AND a little Santa suit to strut around in we loved our little shopping trip together So I don't know about anyone else's Yorkie but Poppy HATES her paws being touched and her nails being cut. EVERY vet, nurse or groomer that goes near them never manages to cut them because she hates it. Well her nails are just ridiculously long so I book and appointment at the new vets... which we aint actually been to yet. The very very formal asked if I needed to mussel her while she had them clipped because I told him she doesn't like it I was like NO WAY. he told me to hold her like a baby and he grabbed her leg and just started clipping away. Poppy was going MENTAL screeching like a banshee and thrashing about! He carried on like super man clipping her nails and 2mins later she was done... and she lived thought it haha! Her nails are the shortest they have ever been and not once did she clip her wick or anything he was just amazing and she was find right after haha. So anyway I think I have waffled on to much about random things so here's my question How did your Yorkie Spend Christmas? Poppy woke up with me around 8am and we had snuggles on the bed till about 9:30 were we went and had a shower together! Then we got ready and spent the day in the kitchen and dining room. 23 people came around and showed her affection.. some mocked her but poppy was sooo kind and gentle even to the children! She helped them clean up the wrapping paper by hiding it and trying to kill it and at lunchtime she helped each some Christmas turkey etc! I love her so much! Poppy in her Santa suit

| What did she really say / do that ? Yes, I do understand hurt feelings. When I was younger mine got hurt all the time. My husband suggested telling people when they hurt my feelings and why. At first that was very hard for me. I was afraid of hurting the other person's feelings. Any way I learned how to tell people and I toughened up too. I would say something like, "I probably took that the wrong way, but what did you mean by _____ ?" or "I get upset when you say I have gotten fat. I know I am fat but, please don't say that again. It hurts my feelings." Some time you have to be blunt, sometimes you can be very nice.

| I'm glad that Poppy ended up having a fun Christmas shopping for her and the cat. Some people just are not dog people and so we have to pray for them. We had Christmas at my oldest son's house this year. His wife is not only NOT a dog person, she is not an animal person! She was raised in a family that had animals but they were not allowed in the house. They lived in a house on some acres but all of their dogs and cats lived outside. So this daugher-in-law feels that dogs are outside animals! Can you imagine? I had to think long and hard about if I should take Gracie over there. I knew it would annoy the in law. Finally after much consideration I decided to leave my little girl home. She would have probably felt the bad vibes and I did not want to ruin her Christmas. When I arrived home after being at my son's house I found Gracie with her hair all messed up. Before I left I had groomed her and parted her hair to perfection! I have a feeling that she and one of the cats were having a free for all while they had the place to themselves. She was all charged up so I think we interrupted the best part of the match! So I guess all in all a good time was had by all! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I'm sorry about the issue with Poppy and your mother in law, but I'm glad you and Poppy had some Christmas fun together anyways! Clyde & Dexter got new PJ's for Christmas. They also got new coats so that when they go outside they won't freeze their little butts off. We woke up in the morning and Dexter & Clyde opened up presents (containing treats, toys, and so on). I then took them on a delightful morning walk =) They came back home and I gave them some surprise chew toys for them to play with. Sadly they had to be left home alone for a couple of hours while I went to a family get together... no dogs allowed =( ...but when I got back we played with all their news toys and went on another brisk walk in their new coats before promptly laying down and watching the season finale of Dexter together that I missed when it originally came out LOL . |

| Um, I'm just wondering if mother-in-law maybe has more of an issue with you, and your dog is a handy opportunity to play that out? Sounds very passive-aggressive to me. Hope that's not the case, for your sake. When somebody disses your dog it feels the same as someone doing that to your child. It's personal and it hurts. I call them out on it, but that's me. Once, a neighbor made a comment referring to my yorkie as a fancy rat. This man had an awful hairpiece. So I said, "Rat? Maybe, kinda like the one on your head, only much cuter! "

Hahahaha that's cheered me up!! Yes sadly the mother in law don't like me much and takes it out on Poppy because its the ONLY thing I care about other than her son. I let all her other remarks slide I don't really care haha as long as i'm always polite and respectful then I don't care BUT poppy is the one thing I have to bite my tongue on! lol
