| flatulence aka puppy poots Domo has terrible farts! I know that puppies tend to toot more since their insides are changing as they grow. Someone told my husband that terriers have stronger smelly toots than regular dogs...is that true? I hope his gas subsides soon. it's pretty bad! He's eating blue buffalo puppy and bullysticks.

| I dont know if they are worse than other dogs but Jewels can stink you out of the room and leaves you wondering how that can come from such a small dog. Her nickname is stinker and she lives up to it lol

| Try giving him some BeneBac (probiotics) for a few days. The wrong mix of bacteria in their gut can cause this, and probiotics help by flooding the system with the needed bacterias appropriate for complete digestion. I can't imagine that Bully sticks would be helping the situation either...JMHO.

| I have never had a gas problem with Gracie. Gas like that tends to be about digestion. Could be the food isn't agreeing with the puppy. Dig you change foods? It is not normal to have constant smelly gas in any breed. |

| I don't think gas that often is normal - in any dog! To me, that means something is not agreeing w/ them. Never heard that terriers have stronger toots than others! lol

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I agree gas in not normal. If there is something in the food that does not agree with him. Or it could be the bully sticks. Re you giving him anything else besides those two thing? Dog biscuits?

| The breeder had him on eukanuba. We're slowly switching him from that to blue buffalo puppy. We started 2 weeks ago, when we got him and slowly adding more of the blue buffalo...he has had only a half of a bully stick and that's it.

| LOL - I always tell my hubby, they are cute but for how small they are, they can sure smell up a place!!!! At least our two can. I am glad to hear the OP say to try the probiotics. Maybe I will do that.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | It might be the fact your changing over. It will take a little bit. I agree with adding probiotics to his food.

| Gas is normal. Some humans have it more often than others same with animals. Im not saying adding some probotics may help but those with animals that have gas shouldnt be made to feel its abnormal

As for the OP, sounds like it's probably due to the food switch! Funny enough, one of the few times Jax farted was after eating Blue Buffalo. And OMG it smelled! I think it works for some, but I hear about a lot of GI problems on that food.

| It could just be the change over of food. You are doing it right by changing slowly but puppies do have delicate digestive systems. Once he is finally changed over he should not have so much gas....if that is the actual cause. Make sure the bully sticks you give him are good and hard. The soft ones can cause some digestive problems. When the sticks are soft the pup tends to eat more of the stick and that can cause some stomach upset. Hopefully he has had a fecal sample checked by the vet to make sure he has no internal parasites. |
