Donating YT 500 Club Member | Clyde & Dexter going to the vet (non-emergency) I think that both of my dogs have a slight case of kennel cough? They are both UTD on vaccinations ... but the past day or so I've noticed that Clyde has been coughing A LOT and that Dexter has a slight cough. I looked up videos on youtube (though obviously not a tool that should be used to diagnose a dog ), Clyde sounded EXACTLY like the dogs that were hacking around from Kennel Cough. Clyde already is going to the vet today. He has seizures and recently the medicine that he has been on hasn't been working ... so he is going back for new blood tests and a new assessment of anti-seizure medication. In fact, Clyde recently experienced a seizure that almost took his life. I'm so thankful that it didn't, though. He was giving "emergency" seizure medication that had to be given rectally incase he were to have another seizure before the blood work was done. I had to give it to him last night because he had his second seizure in under a month. He has never had this many seizures before this close together. I really hope that the vets can get this under control. I don't want anything happening to my sweet little guy. But anyways... I now plan to bring Dexter along to talk to the vet about their coughing?? I just don't understand how it could be kennel cough, though .... but what else could it be? I do not think it is tracheal damage because I have always been really careful about the harnesses and leashes I use (and both of my dogs are trained not to pull on the leash) My vet appointment isn't until 2:00 p.m. and it is only 10:00 a.m ... I'm usually a very patient person ... but not today LOL |

YT Addict | Awww I'm so sorry to hear this. I am not 100% on this but I have heard that sometimes dogs can get viruses just as we humans do. Like a cold or flu type of sickness. I don't know if this is always what is kennel cough or if it's possible that they can literally get sick sick. Like we do. Hopefully this is just the case, something that is not harmful or a real hassle for you. Seems like you have enough on your plate. Praying for your Clyde and Dexter, too!

| I hope you figure out what is wrong with them... It's always hard not knowing what is wrong.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thank you so much for the thoughts and prayers! Clyde got his blood test, but it will be a little time before we get there results back from the lab. My usual vet, who is always very kind and sweet, was not there yesterday. A vet that I had never met before was there, and the vet did not even address the coughing! I said that BOTH of dogs were showing signs of coughing, and that Clyde was coughing a lot. The new vet just said "You probably gave them something that was irritating to their throat because they aren't showing signs of being sick". And moved on. Today I haven't noticed Dexter coughing, but Clyde still has a slight cough every now and again. Maybe they did just eat something irritating? I don't know ... but I plan to bring them back to my regular vet when she returns. Again, thank you so much for your thoughts & prayers. I really appreciate it all. I've been worried about Clyde a lot ... but hopefully with these new blood tests & everything we can figure out how to get everything under control =)! |

| That vet sounds like he was put off having to look at them...how wrong is that. I could go on about that, but won't. I'm glad that Dexter has stopped coughing and Clyde is doing better! I'm afraid that I don't have any input but I hope tomorrow he's 100%
