| "no no" toys? bella eats plastic toys. so i decided to never get them again, ive started to only buy her 'rope' toys that dont seem to get eaten, ive heard some toys are bad and bella would actually ingest the plastic toys as i would find bits in per poo what are the best and safest toys for yorkies ? i have no idea what to get her for christmas? and what are the best treats? i usually get her the normal dog biscuits? bella also eats tennis balls, she will play in the park/beach with them and they are her fav of any toy, but at home she will chew them and eat them too! thanx for any help

YT Addict | I know Kong makes a very VERY tough rubber type of toys and they are made for very large dogs to be able to chew on but not ruin or tear up. They make very small ones also, maybe you could try that. She could try all she wants to chew on that but I doubt she could actually bite any off. They are usually the ones that you can put a treat inside and they have to try to get the treat out. So they are specifically made to withstand biting. Hope this helps! My girl doesn't really play much with toys, she's older. She will sometimes tug of war or something with a little stuffed toy but she doesn't do anything to even rip them up for the fluff to be a caution. I've tried various types throughout the years to try to see if there's any 1 kind she would REALLY play with but nope. But that's how I found the Kong, I thought maybe she'd go for it with a treat. She gets the treat out then goes back to sleep lol.

| I have the little tennis balls for Gracie and she loves to fetch them but I have to put them away after we play or she will chew them up! I'm sure that fuzzy stuff is not good for the digestion. She likes to chew plastic also so I never buy it. She loves her stuffed animals. She likes to pretend she is killing them. She is really good about not destroying them. I do try to get her good quality toys and not the typical stuff you find in the department store. Other than that she has her bully sticks for when she is in a chewing mood. Her greatest joy in life is going for walks. I buy her freeze dried meat treats that are from grass fed meat sources that have not been injected. I have read that when they dehydrate the meat it causes all the bad stuff to be more concentrated in the treat so it's something to consider. I also make treats for her myself. |

YT Addict | Gracielove, do you buy those freeze dried meats online or do you get them locally? Sorry for interjecting the OP. Just never heard of that before and I am curious!

I've now had to take away all Harry's rope toys - I realised he was pulling tiny strands out of the 'knotted end', just a little at a time. If they weren't knotted, he'd gnaw away at the rings etc 'til they were!!! He was throwing up the other day - which is SO unusual for him, and suddenly a big multi-coloured lump came out, and I realised it was a mass of little pieces of the stringy-ropey stuff?!!? SO PLEASE BEWARE!!!! As everyone else has said, you really can't beat Kongs for major chewers, the last one took him about 6 months to bite the end off!!! Good luck! Sally + Harry x | |

| I have a great all natural pet food store that I buy from but I have to drive a ways to get there. When I am not planning on making a trip I usually get the Stella & Chewy's treats from Amazon. There is also the "Only Natural Pet. com" that I get things from. Both places carry other brands of freeze dried treats as well. Gracie loves Stella & Chewy's frozen food so I get her the freeze dried treats, too. She would probably eat the other brands if I bought them. |

YT Addict | Thank you so so much gracielove! I bookmarked these. When I am reunited with my Lolli love, I am going to have so many goodies in line for her! I have missed her and have not been able to spoil her for 4 almost 5 months now!!!! Lolli has a very sensitive stomach. She has to eat really minimal ingredient food. I use Blue dog food for her usually unless finances are really tough then I get a minimal ingredient lamb mix by Purina or something like that and she is ok on that since the corn meal is so far down the list of ingredients but I only use that when I have to. I had just bought any old dog treats before and she got so sick she had to go to the vet to get anti nausea medicine until it passed through. So now for treats, I really don't give her much except a peanut butter kind from the store that only lists like 5 ingredients and all are things I know. She likes those but sometimes I wish I could treat her with something else. But I like all natural sounding things. I never heard of freeze dried. After the move and all maybe I can order some of this. I bet she will do just fine. She loves chicken and lamb!

YT 2000 Club Member | My JoJo will chew up almost any toy so I have to be very careful. Kong does put out some great toys. He loves the squeaktoy, Kong Wubba but there again I have to watch he doesn't chew it up. Don't leave cords where dogs can chew them. These Yorkies have sharp teeth and JoJo has chewed up even the pee pee pads. I will go to tlhe vet and buy the extra large CET chews for him and Spud. I watch him with those and when they get gooey or a piece can be broken off, I take them away. Just watch what is in their mouth. |
