Donating YT 500 Club Member | What is the meaning behind your dogs name? I know there was recently a thread posted asking if your dog was named after a famous person ... but I'm curious to know the MEANING behind your dogs name and WHY you named your dog that =) Clyde's name meaning is after a river in Scotland. There is a "slang" meaning behind the name Clyde .... but I don't like it (bumpkin or square). Clyde is named Clyde because of my favorite actor, Gerard Butler. I wanted to name him Gerard ... but it didn't fit. I was going to name him Butler but everyone refused to call him that. So I watched all of Gerard Butler's movies (because I owned them all HAHA) and picked my favorite one. Law Abiding Citizen. Gerard Butler plays the character named Clyde Sheldon. I absolutely loved the movie & the name. Dexter's name means something about "right-handed and fortunate"....Dexter is named after Michael C. Hall ... and my all time favorite television series "Dexter". I absolutely LOVE the actor & the show ... so I went with Dexter. It fits him perfectly. I have a thing for naming my pets after favorite actors/movies. ' So... What does your pets name mean and where did it come from? |

| We picked out the name for our future child. Since we are not ready for children yet. We decided to give it to our furbaby. |

| Well Guinness Stout is because we are both part Irish and well he loves to drink Guinness... And I just asked him why Stella and his answer was "it was the only girl sounding beer I could think of" hmm looks like we might have a name change in store because I was not that wild about that name

| Blazer was named by DD1 right after he was delivered. Blazer's mother is my neighbors' dog and when mom was ready to deliver the owner was at work and so I delivered the pups. Blazer was 1st, then a girl already sold named Ema, then 4 more boys. After all were out we- my 3 daughters, me, and the owner's 2 daughters- all decided to come up with names. We asked DD1 what she would name a pup and she said Blazer, I started calling the first born pup Blazer after that. Then, a few days later the owner told me that I could have a pup for free for all that I did so Blazer stayed Blazer and that's the end of that. =D

| Liberty was named by my college-student son who was an intern at the institute of his hero, a recent presidential candidate (will remain nameless for sake of friendliness. LOL) because he wanted to influence his dear ole' mom. Didn't work. LOL. Naming a puppy is a good way to build a bridge in friendly family debates. Regardless of political persuasion, "liberty" is a good thing, no? Libert fuzz-butt is MY hero |

| Teasell got her name from my love of Actor Vin Deasell she is a girl so had to feminize it a bit and then had to give tribute to a special little Dachsie that I had for over 14 years ( Tizzara) Still miss her to this day. So my little Yorkie is Teasell.... |

| My sheltie-mix is named Shelby-Dale. We can't have kids and he was my first ever male dog so I named him Shelby after my dad. He's black and white (mostly black) and my hubby was a HUGE fan of Dale Earnhardt (he drove a black car). So..Shelby-Dale. Mandie really doesn't have any meaning (although friends tease me about the Barry Mannilow song lol). Her name was Sophie when we got her but hubby thought that was too ritzy for us regular folk...we bounced names around for about 4 or 5 days. He called me at work one day and said, "Candie or Mandie?" I tested calling each name like I was calling a dog...I liked Mandie better. (pretty meaningless but a pretty name I think )

| Joey was named jojo by the breeder and because of our last name (also starting with Jo) I decided we need to change his name. I like Joey, and it stuck!

| Cerise = Cherry Her name means "cherry" in French. I also love the color deep pink or red of the juice of a cherry.

| We have a "theme"... We first adopted Odysseus ("Ody") and he was named after my favorite hero from my favorite book. When Athena came along, there wasn't a "theme" set yet but I would have liked to have kept it in the ancient realm. So I came home one day (I told Chad he could name her) he chose "Athena" because it was his favorite character in "Battlestar Galactica" and so by the time Zeus came around, we had to keep it Greek. It was either Zeus or Titan but he acted like he was in charge. So Zeus it was!
