| The Pee Pee Rant So I moved to a new apartment about 3 months ago and now have some really great new neighbors and some really awful new neighbors. The awful ones are why I am writing this. First, Hepburn needs to go out, when I am home, about every 3 hours. Some days, this is very often as I am home all day. Some days this is 3-4 times a day as I am out and about. On the days when I am out and about, we walk around the block each time I take him out (about 10-15 minutes total) and he has his wee wee pads when I am not home. On the days that I am home, we walk in the morning, the afternoon and the evening around the block, but the other times I just take him up the street and back so he can do his business in peace and then we go back inside. I always pick up his poo, and I never let him pee on buildings, cars or in people's yards. I live in a big city, so I try to be careful that he is going in places where it won't bother people. This means he tends to go at the edge of the sidewalk and in the areas around trees (sometimes on trees, he is a boy after all!). There is a green area nearby, but it has a lot of large dogs off leash at almost all hours of the day, and it makes me very uncomfortable taking him there since he was attacked last year. This morning, after taking our long walk, I checked my mailbox since I had been gone over the weekend and found a long note from a neighbor that my dog is ruining the tree in front of their building. He does pee on that tree most often, but not every time I take him out and I try to take him to other areas to avoid the smell in front of the building. I already had a mean neighbor yell at me for not taking him far enough away to pee and now she won't even respond to my greetings when I see her. I have a feeling this is now the same neighbor writing me a note, but since it is not signed, I can't tell. It states that dog urine can kill trees over time and that dogs should therefore not pee on any trees. I find this, especially for a boy dog in a big city, really difficult to follow. Where else should he pee? Now buildings, cars, motorcycles, bushes, green areas near playgrounds, gardens or green areas next to buildings, the sidewalk, the street and trees, including the areas around them, are all off limits?! Where should I take him to pee? I don't want problems with the neighbors, but I am not sure what to do. It is not illegal to let him pee there, but who wants to deal with these passive-aggresive notes? Sorry, I just had to get that out. I wanted to leave to University early today and now I am so upset by this, I have been researching the legality of the whole thing rather than working on my thesis paper at the library... Thanks for listening to my rant. |

| There is nothing illegal about him peeing on a tree but if she is making a stink I would find another yard

| Oh dear - some people.... Is it possible for you to put up a 'pee-post' for him, outside your building? I think some people just have too much time on their hands....! Sally + Harry x |

| Oh my, I am so sorry for you. Years ago, we had a nasty neighbor when we lived in an apartment and she never changed during the 2 1/2 year period. We walked too loud, talked too loud, the birds and squirrels dropped seed from our deck on hers, etc. These are usually very unhappy, lonely people with nothing else to do but find fault in others and complain about it. They are usually looking hard for things to complain about. Unless Berlin is a city unfriendly to dogs, she is probably alone in her nastiness toward your dog. Unless you want to go out of your way to try to please this woman, I wouldn't change a thing you are doing. Keep him on the leash, pick up the poo, pee and poo in approved areas and keep being considerate like you already are. Check the apartment rules, city ordinances, etc., and that's all you can do. I find it hard to believe that a yorkie could pee on a tree and kill it. My yorkie pees all over my yard and goes for regular walks in the neighborhood and he's never killed anything in 9 years and I'm a master gardener. I would keep him safe from her, however, because she's obviously a dog hater. Make sure he's not barking while you are gone (maybe leave the TV on for background noise) because that woman would call and complain in an instant to try to have your dog removed. |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I would contact the city ordnance dept and ask them. If there is any rules or no rules ask for a letter stating as such. Then ask your building super to put a copy it in everyone's mailbox or post it on the board. Also make sure you make a few copy's your self. If anyone approaches you show it to them. That will shut them up. Good luck.

| In my neighborhood, people carry spray bottles of water around and spray after their dog urinates. Fill it with water, vinegar, or whatever and it should hopefully get rid of it. Sorry, sounds like you just have a nosy neighbor that wants to complain. Personally, I'd tell her to suck it.

| It sounds to me like you are a very considerate dog owner. Everything you are doing sounds reasonable and seems legal. Usually if a dog pees on a tree it has become a peemail box for many dogs. They are just checking and commenting on the neighborhood thread. I was looking up dog pee damage on trees and found this for a good laugh. Chester The Amazing Peeing Dog - YouTube!

If she's gonna be passive aggressive with you, then keep on peeing on that tree. Heck put a note on the tree. Have it be like the tree wrote the note and likes to help the dogs keep tabs on each other and doesn't mind the pee. There is no way a little yorkie is going to kill a tree. Unless he is peeing acid, and then you've got a bigger problem to deal with. Screw that lady. I can't understand why people would go to the trouble to complain about something, but then just do it anonymously so the issue can't be discussed.

| If the tree is on the side of the sidewalk near the road it is perfectly legal for your dog to pee there. There are many dogs in a big city. It is too bad that the neighbors have decided to pick on you. Your dog needs to be able to walk around and do his duty. All you can do is ignore people like that. Believe me they are every where. We have a town near by that has made it illegal to let cats outside the home. Sadly, there are people who care more about plants than animals. I was once an avid gardener but never found domestic animals to be any threat to my plant life. |

| Whomever wrote that is a nut job. Ignore them. I'm pretty sure the life time out put of urine from a yorkie is in no way any danger to a tree. I'm not sure it's any danger to a dandelion either for that matter. In fact, the tree is more likely being ruined more by the fact that it's by the side of the road and sucking up exhaust. If they want to write passive aggressive notes, you can do the same thing and leave a note to the person you think wrote the note saying did you give the same letter to everyone with a dog who pees on that tree, or just me? And not sign it of course.

| Oh gosh! Some people need to get a life! I wouldn't give her the satisfaction of giving it another thought. You are never going to have everyone agree with you 100% of the time and I would just keep on doing what you are doing. I suppose if you really wanted to you could bring a bottle of water and rinse it off or something.... |

| You're not doing anything wrong. You will never please this person. Enjoy your dog, and get back to work on that thesis! (: |

| I lost my note mid-post so will be more succinct now. Passive-aggressive people are more likely to become aggressive. Even though you are in the right, this crazo might do something like put down (sad face) a poisonous substance. Find another spot so your baby does not become victimized during a turf war. Mega blessings! |
