| another grooming issue... So today I realized that Amirah is also afraid of toenail clippers. But not only that she doesn't like nail files either. What is a girl to do...? I mean my little girl cried and howled anytime I came near her with the clippers or the nail file. After I tried both of them she went to the other side of the room and wouldn't talk to me for an hour!!!!!!! I couldn't get her to come to me for nothing. And I know I didn't hurt her...so I can't figure it out!!! HELP!!!

| Did you try the treat thing? I will say this, my big dog hates hates hates getting his nails clipped. It freaks him out. I tried the electric (dremmel like) file and that was worse. So, for over 3 years now, my hubby has to get a wrestle hold on this 68 lb dog while I clip away. I gave him treats til the cows came home but he didn't care. He hates his nails to be messed with. So, he just has to suffer for 10 minutes while it's done. Mandie doesn't even like me touching her paws to brush/comb them. Same with clipping but at least she's sub-5 lbs so I can handle her lol

| Brody wasn't wild about it, but he'd struggle through letting me clip nails....many treats to every clip. Mia doesn't care for it either, but she's pretty easy going and lets me clip with only minor issues. However, Brody decided one day not long ago that he wanted no part of me clipping his nails...everything else if OK, but NOOO NAILS...sooooo...when, after not being able to clip until waaaay past due for it, off we went to a groomer who clipped them anyway.

| You know, I see no problem with letting "that mean ole groomer" be the bad guy. hehe

| My mother in law just got a new puppy and he doesnt like having his nails trimmed...so I made my hub hold him and distract him while I went in and clipped. It worked for us. I use cat nail clippers instead of dog, maybe that will work? The woman I bought my dog from told me about them and they are so much easier than the dog ones that I use for my big dog. Also, I mess with Joeys face, ears and feet all the time so when I need to do anything with those parts he doesnt freak out...maybe that will help too? |

| I am gonna try all these things, but I have pretty much resigned myself to have the most ungroomed puppy on the planet...I am gonna have her nails trimmed by the vet next week though when she goes under for her surgery. I haven't found a groomer in the area that I don't want to punch in the face yet. So she is going to wait a bit longer on a groomer.

| i have my dh hold lola. she acts like she is dying when i clip her nails and i refuse to bring her and pay to have someone do it when i can. so she doesnt talk to me either for a bit but each time when she realizes i am not going to hurt her it gets better. i do it every week now instead of waiting. to keep her familiar with the practice which i find also helps. good luck.

| Try a cat nail trimmer on her and see if that helps her not to be so afraid. Good luck.. |
