| If the women is taking care of the pup I would never report it heck might even congratulate her. I despise pet stores that sell pups and if the pup is ok then I am perfectly fine with the pet store loosing money.

| Stealing is still stealing. I hope that the puppy is OK. Not quite sure what she was thinking. If it was the price tag, there are plenty of other babies out there that could be adopted for 1/4 of the price. :/

| Some of the comments distress me. You all know I work with rescues and puppy mill dogs and mistreated dogs that need foster homes. So it is well known that I HATE PUPPY MILLS. Is it ever ok do something drastic ? To break the law ? Yes, in my opinion, but grabbing a puppy and running in this case, I don't think so. The puppy was not in eminent danger. I could and would try to change the pet store's policy about selling puppies. But grabbing a pup and running away with it ? We haven't got the right to break a window and go in a house even to save a dog, if the house is NOT on fire. We have to call the police and wait.

I would much rather educate pet stores than encourage stealing. It doesn't make *our* cause any better and makes us (those that try to spread the word) the bad guys :/

| Stealing is wrong. But perpetuating the puppy mill industry is worse. I hope the puppy will be well looked after and loved. Laughing at the $250 reward. Last edited by yorkiedallas; 12-07-2012 at 04:56 PM. |

| I understand the reasoning why you find this incident acceptable. However, it's not 'ok' for anyone to steal a dog. Wouldn't it be ironic if the person who stole the dog was a BYB themself? Hey, you never know. Hopefully the dog will be well taken care of.

| This is really horrible. I just pray that the puppy will be ok. Here in Dallas, last night a Petland Store was broken into and about 10 puppies were stolen. This made the 3rd Petland Store that was broken into. They did release on the news that all of their puppies are micro chipped with Petland as being the owner until who ever buy's them changes it to their info. I do know that in one of those robberies some of those puppies were returned by people who bought them off of someone after seeing the story on the news. While I don't agree with selling puppies in a Pet Store, I most certainly do not believe in theft.

YT 2000 Club Member | Always do the right thing. You know in your heart what is right and taking a dog from a store is stealing. You will reap what you sow. I pray these puppy mills would shut down. It is downright cruelty to keep those dogs in the conditions they are in and just breed them to death. The people who do these things will not go unpunished. |

I agree....I HATE THIEVES....I detest pet stores that sell puppies and kittens. But I do not think stealing is the way to "save a puppy" from this situation. First and foremost, I do not believe for one minute this baby was stolen to "save it from a horrible existance"....this pup was stolen to go on Petfinder or ebay or whereever people fence stolen property, with NO thought given for the welfare of this puppy....this theiving slug was going after quick cash. dont give her any credit for being humane and sympathetic for the welfare of that baby. With the puppies and kittens welfare formost in my mind, until there are laws forbiding the sale of puppies and kittens in pet stores, there should be steps taken BY THE BUSINESS to avoid stealing these defenseless babies. You would think the businesses would want to avoid loosing this "valuable merchandise"....If they are going to allow strangers to handle live animals, they should be put in a large petting area, where they have to remain while visiting with the baby....not allowed to leave the room, see just one at a time, with a closed door and an attendant in with them. Put a collar on them that triggers a noise if someone walks out of the "petting room" with a baby, so they can be stopped before actually getting out of the store! Jewelry stores do not just lay their diamond rings and gold bracelets all over the room and let who ever handle the merchandise....they should be just as protective of a living creature as they are with a pricy piece of metal or rock. Maybe it should be made a law!! Maybe it should be a law that pet stores MUST microchip all their babies....or tatoo them. | |

| That's why I said if she did it to save and is going to take care of it then I am fine with it obviously I'm not ok with it if she stole it to treat it poorly.

| I in no way do I support stealing and think its terrible to steal but if they stole this puppy to save it and treat it right and love it I do not think its so terrible and would not report it if I knew who did it because half those pups who have people spend lots and lots of money to buy them end up in terrible situations and not taken care of.
