| New Here - First Time Doggy owner and my story Hello all. I remember having a pet as a child many moons ago, but as an adult I've never had a dog. Well I now have the love of my love, Kobe. He's 2 years old, he was a rescue dog, living in a home and they weren't taking care of him. He was caged most of the day with his brother. I just have him, not the brother so I know the separation is hard for him. I've had him for about 4 weeks now, he was extremely underweight, he was being fed puppy chow, I switched him to Blue Buffalo, he's enjoying it. A vet suggested I put cottage cheese in his food, has anyone heard that? I did it a few times and his bowels were fine. I hate to leave him at home and rarely cage him. He's barked maybe 3 times since being here lol, I have 4 children and he enjoys them but if I leave the room he follows me. There are so many things I don't know, so I'm here reading and enjoying learning. I enjoy seeing the pictures of the other babies as well. |

| Welcome! We enjoy our yorkies more everyday-They really attach themselves to your heart. I mix a teaspoon of something in my pups evening kibble- they really look forward to it. A little boiled chicken or beef, a bit of egg, or if nothing else cottage cheese- they love it! I don't feed any snacks, just cheerios for the littlest ones potty training! |

| Welcome to YT! Bless you for rescuing that little Kobe! I know he is thankful. I think many of us add extra stuff to the kibble now and then and cottage cheese works well. If he likes it and it helps put some weight on him, just keep doing that

| Welcome! It looks like you have come to the right place to learn all you can about these little bundles of joy and love. Good luck with Kobe, sounds like he is fitting in with your family already.

| Thank you for opening your heart and home to this little guy. A good diet is important, and you will hear many opinions about what is the best. We cook for our dogs and truly they eat a much more healthy diet than we do. We people tend to grab junk food. We feed our yorkies twice a day. I start each dog on a good dry kibble (depending on their size a 1/4 to 1/2 cup per serving) then add 1/8 cup lean cooked meat, 1/8 cup steamed veggies, a teaspoon of low fat cottage cheese, and I rotate raw fruits that are allowed like a fresh apple slice, peach, with brown rice, pumpkin, squash, carrots, cooked multi grain pasta. THis does not have to be complicated. I know you are a busy mom. You can buy a bag of frozen mixed vegs and unthaw a few days amount in the frige. Keep in covered container. Boil a chicken and when it s cool remove from the bone and cut into bite size cubes and freeze in zip lock bags. DO NOT feed dogs, grapes, candy, raisins, bones or rawhide, anything with sugarless sweeteners.
